Certified Tutor
I have a BA in English from University of Colorado -Boulder and a CELTA certificate for teaching English to adults. I have been tutoring and teaching for the past five years, from teaching English to adults in Puebla, Mexico to supporting teachers in elementary schools to tutoring children in their homes. I love tutoring, because I get to meet so many different people and learn how to teach to their individual needs. My subjects of expertise include elementary and middle school reading, writing, and math, as well as Spanish, all of which I enjoy teaching because of the different types of creativity required by each. I believe that by developing an interest in learning and mastering new things, many opportunities open up further down the road for young people. Because of this, I strive to impart a love for learning in all my students. In my free time, I enjoy experimenting with new recipes and ingredients in the kitchen, ping-pong, biking, and reading.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe in helping students become more self-sufficient in their learning by showing them not just how to do a problem or which questions to ask but where to go for helpful resources, how to stick through a tough problem on their own, and how to approach learning with curiosity and enthusiasm.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I'll focus on getting to know them and building trust and rapport between us so that we can cooperate well in the future, and so that I can figure out what motivates them and how they approach their work.
