Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Mariano Galvez University in Guatemala City. I received my Bachelor of Arts in ESL teaching for Teenagers and Adults, before that I received a certification for ESL for Children. I am also a native Spanish speaker and I have taught online and onsite classes. I love teaching my native langue, and I think that knowing both languages helps me understand the difficulties a non-Spanish speaker may encounter on the way. Since I am from Guatemala I have a very clear and neutral accent that can be easy even for a beginner student.
Besides that I have worked in bilingual schools, where my position has included elementary ESL, Phonics, Grammar and Spelling, Reading, Science in English instruction for Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade students. I also worked at the American Guatemalan Institute for five years as an ESL instructor for elementary through high school age students, as well as adults, in the fields of business and education. With such varied classroom experience, I have worked with students and adults from a range of backgrounds and was continually challenged to modify my teaching to meet diverse student needs, abilities, and learning styles.
As a Director of Programs with Maximo Nivel in Antigua, Guatemala, I oversaw both the Volunteer and Internship Program and the Spanish Language School. Among my responsibilities, I coordinated teaching schedules, supervised childcare and orphanage volunteer projects, created and compiled teaching materials and resources, and designed evaluation tools.
I believe that we can best support students' success as learners by inspiring interest and enthusiasm in language and culture. I am committed to creating an engaging, interactive learning environment that makes language acquisition meaningful and authentic for students. As an educator, I continually evaluate my performance, striving to improve the way in which I instruct and taking into consideration every student needs and learning styles.
In my spare time I enjoy being a mom of a wonderful baby boy, I like cooking, dancing to exercise, Zumba and Yoga. I also love Arts and painting is one of my favorite and more relaxing hobbies.
