I am an enthusiastic and helpful tutor. I work with students where they are and, using whatever tools necessary, I bring them to where they need to be. I do not promise overnight solutions, but through work my students have achieved a great deal. I also have a knack for testing and am very happy to help my students learn not only the facts but also test taking strategies for everything from in-class tests to the ACT. Throughout the past I have had a spectacular chance to experience a wide variety of learning and teaching opportunities. I have taken courses with highly qualified professionals. I discovered my love of foreign language while tutoring other students in French throughout high school, but the real work began in the Language Lab at Southeast Missouri State. I spoke with students who were working to attain a higher proficiency in the language of their choice. I left for my study abroad program in my junior year; I spent the fall semester of 2012 in Angers, France. I was also able to study in Ecuador the following summer to gain fluency. I spent my time in Quito, Ecuador by traveling and gaining international friendships; I learned a great deal. I still love traveling and hope to return to these places and see many more in the years to come. I used this knowledge to improve my teaching as I assisted in the French classroom at the Secondary and Post-Secondary levels. I have tutored students individually at all levels of both French and Spanish offered at Southeast Missouri State. This has shown me how individual tutoring and dedication from students can lead to great gains in understanding. I have experience Student Teaching in southeast Missouri this past Spring. In May, I graduated from Southeast with two Bachelor’s degrees (one in Education and the other in Global and Cultural Studies) and am a fully certified teacher K-12 in both French and Spanish. I am currently at Washington University working to attain a PhD in Education with an emphasis in Second Language Learning. Throughout my graduate studies, I do research in discovering new methodologies to teach foreign language in the most successful way possible. All of these experiences have led me to the place where I can be an effective tutor for students from kindergarten through adulthood. I truly love language; it is incredibly valuable, and I love to teach it, but I hope to help anyone who I can to achieve their goals.
