I subscribe to a student-centered approach to education. Each individual has unique abilities and strengths as well as differing pressures and concerns that affect his or her life. I am mindful of these needs in each session with a student. My focus on each person as an individual enables me to assist my students in finding strategies and interests that compliment their particular situations and, ultimately, help them reach their potential.

As a St. Louis native, I graduated from Whitfield School in 2000 and matriculated to Sarah Lawrence College, where I studied literature and creative writing. I conducted my graduate work at Washington University, in St. Louis, in Social Work and Education. My academic background and social work experience with adolescents allows me to draw from a wealth of content knowledge and to connect with students, creating a learning environment conducive to high academic achievement. When working with adolescents, I focus on academics, but I also strive to build self-confidence, improve organizational skills, and inspire curiosity. Most importantly, I work with parents, Teachers, and Counselors to turn teenagers into lifelong learners.

I work with students in Language Arts courses to perfect their analytical skills, advance critical thinking, and increase reading comprehension. I also assist with all stages of the writing process, where I encourage a pre-writing, drafting, and revision approach. Collaborating with college bound students on writing polished and expressive admissions essays is one of my favorite ways to work with young writers; it is rewarding to help students find their unique voice at an exciting time in their lives. In my free time, I love playing outside with my son, reading for book clubs, knitting, and watching movies.
