Certified Tutor

I graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and have spent my career writing and editing for newspapers and magazines. Through the years I realized that I enjoyed training aspiring writers and reporters on how to improve their writing skills. I live in a diverse community and felt I could use what I knew to assist others so I volunteered at a school system and began tutoring young adults as they worked toward a GED diploma. My specialties are reading, writing and grammar, but GED requirements can be broad and I gained additional experience working with the students in basic math.
I emphasized organization and planning to help them improve their writing and communication skills. The students came from diverse backgrounds, but I found that they were most enthusiastic and involved with the process when they were working toward goals they had a hand in developing.
In my spare time when I'm not freelance writing I'm usually enjoying the outdoors by hiking, camping, fly fishing or traveling.
