Certified Tutor

I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Art History from the University of Minnesota. For four years after college I was an elementary and middle school special education teacher in the Chicago Public School system and at an independent charter school in Minneapolis, MN. During that time, I received my Masters of Education from National-Louis University. While I tutor in subjects like reading, phonics, social studies, and geography, my passion and expertise lie in math, specifically pre-algebra and algebra. I really enjoy seeing my students grow from intrepid or anxious test takers into confident and able test takers. My main goal is to improve not only the academic abilities of your child but self-esteem around academic pursuits as well. My tutoring style is work hard, play hard! We will definately have some fun playing games or taking small breaks to get to know each other, but first and foremost we will work to improve weak academic areas.

In addition to tutoring I am a certified yoga instructor. I believe that physical discipline through yoga practice better prepares the mind for mental endeavors such as test taking or test preparation. Because we live in such a busy world, yoga allows me the time to turn inward and listen to my mind and body's needs.

In my spare time I enjoy camping, biking, reading about politics and world issues, and volunteering at an arts non-profit for children.
