Dianna: Pittsburg tutor
Certified Tutor
I believe that Math is a skill you will use all through your life, no matter what profession you choose. I have taught at the High School level since 2002 at both the standard and advanced levels. My teaching is very participative. I do not feel that lecturing is the most effective way to instruct. I feel that a teacher needs to be familiar with multiple approaches to problem solving and not just focus on their "favorite." Sometimes students need a fresh perspective.
I am not a disciplinarian and I expect students to act as adults and come ready to learn. I like to try and provide real world examples of the principles that the students are studying since this gives them a good idea of how this knowledge can be applied. My students' success is directly tied to my own feeling of accomplishment - I want them to not only learn the lesson, but also become excited about Math.
