Certified Tutor

As a baby boomer of post World War II Germany, I have come to appreciate both, our rich cultural heritage as well as our troubled past. After graduating in theology from the University of Göttingen, I moved to the USA to marry my soon-to-be chaplain husband. Traveling from sea to shining sea as a navy wife and mother of two children, I got to know many parts of the country and experienced many schools and teaching methods to learn from. In between new career pursuits (middle school teaching, social work) I have tutored German and English (ESL), one-on-one, all ages, and I also translated a book on post-Apartheid South Africa. My first love is literature and translating, and I have found outlets in book clubs and in Toastmaster’s German Polyglots. I still have close ties to Germany and travel there at least once a year. My teaching style is hands-on, visual, interactive and geared towards your specific needs and interests. My favorite pastimes are reading, movies, and meeting with friends. I also like to take long nature walks (as Germans do!) and work out in the gym.
