I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland at College Park. I earned the Middle School Math Endorsement shortly after. I am currently working on earning a Master's Degree in Curricular and Instruction with an Administrative track from McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. I have tutored for over ten years now. As a high school student, I tutored friends and family in all subjects. I began tutoring other college students during my four years at Maryland. In my senior year of college, I became a corrective reading tutor while working with the Kennedy Krieger Institute. After college, I became a middle school math teacher in Charles County. I have taught various levels from the basic level to the accelerated/advanced levels as well as Algebra II. I also have tons of other experience working with students. I have sponsored a mentoring club for a select group of students after school as well as currently tutoring students. Currently, I tutor all levels of elementary and middle school math as well as Algebra II and Geometry. I am also currently serving as a pre-college mentor for a few family members, helping them navigate the college selection, application, and financial aid processes. I am a huge math nerd! I absolutely love tutoring math. I love solving math equations myself. I know it sounds weird, but I really love all math topics. Math is so much fun for me! Typically you follow rules and the answer just happens, this is awesome! I also love tutoring/ guiding students through the college selection experience. As one of the first members of my family to earn a college degree, I had very few mentors and went about the process blindly. I decided I wouldn't allow anyone else I knew go through the same thing. I began working as a pre-college mentor while at Maryland and it was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. I am a very hands on type of teacher. I love to cut, sort, glue, color, etc during my lessons. I try to incorporate all these things into my tutoring when possible. I also like to provide a lot of practice with each skill. I try to provide my own problems for my students to help them get used to the skill. I also like to help my students think of shortcuts for each skill. I like to show multiple ways to solve the problems so students have a wide range of options to choose from. My love for school sometimes extends outside of the classroom. I love to read so I'm not a complete math geek. I play volleyball and love all things football and basketball. Of course I am a huge online shopper and I like to call myself an Ebay master! In addition to those things, I like to watch movies and go out to eat.
