I am a recent graduate of the University of Washington with a double major in History and Law, Societies and Justice, and a minor in Human Rights. I am most excited about tutoring students in History, English, and Public Speaking. At UW, I focused my studies on social movements, the civil rights movement, and the Vietnam War; and I focused my extracurricular activities on Model United Nations and community development projects. I have experience both taking and assisting peers with A.P. exams, including World History, U.S. History, U.S. Government, Comparative Government, English Language and English Literature. I believe that students learn best when a seemingly complex subject is broken down into simple and logical pieces, and the pieces are made relatable and relevant to students. I also believe that for students struggling with subjects like History and English, test-taking skills are just as important as learning content.
I am currently working as an AmeriCorps member at Community for Youth, a mentoring organization aimed at high school students in Seattle. In my spare time, I serve as the current Director General for WASMUN (Washington State Model United Nations), the largest high school Model United Nations conference in the Northwest, and am also involved in volunteering at Broadview Emergency Shelter & Transitional Housing and North Helpline Food Bank. I also enjoy salsa dancing, cooking, and keeping myself updated on current global affairs.
