I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Tina

Certified Tutor

I taught English in Japan for three years during which time I worked with the professor of Linguistics at the University. When I returned to America I received my BA in Linguistics with a minor in Japanese. While working as a Elementary school program director, I completed my Masters in Education, Language Arts Curriculum and Development. I have been teaching ESL in Seattle for five years and have helped many native and non-native English speakers with written communication for both professional and educational purposes. I have also volunteered for seven years with my therapy dog in a literacy program at libraries and in special education classrooms. I believe that when learning is made enjoyable and interactive to the students needs, students are more fully engaged and can excel. I enjoy working with all levels of English ability.

I have been speaking Japanese for 30 years and would also be able to tutor beginner to intermediate level with an emphasis on conversational practice.
