I am a graduate of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. I have been teaching Special Education for 15 years with various ages groups and disabilities. I have also worked in an inclusion setting with general educators. I have taught reading programs such as SPIRE and Math programs such as All Hands on Math. In the reading program SPIRE, its focus is on Phonics, Phonemic Awareness, and Reading Comprehension. I would work with small groups and teach them how to read letters and blend words together in order to read. In the Math program, my focus was teaching basic skills such as adding and subtracting one and two digit numbers and multiplication. During my early years of teaching, I have worked with ESL teachers on teaching English and writing skills to students that had Individual Educational Plans (IEP's) and the English language was fairly new to them. I used many manipulatives and other online resources to teach my students. I have a passion for teaching and seeing my students learn.
