Tutoring review by Roozbeh in Second Ward, NC
We went through his exam review. I explained the concept first and had the student solve some examples. Then I asked him to solve the questions by himself to make sure he understood how to solve them. He understood how to solve them. Then we went through some word problems from his textbook and he understood how he has to set them up. He is doing great.

Tutoring review by Elizabeth in Second Ward, NC
The student started school this past week and she filled me in on what she's been learning in math class. She told me that in her last class the teacher showed her a number grid with numbers 1-100 and she had to answer questions about it. I went over some terms with her as we looked at a number grid together. She learned what column and row mean and we also looked at a grid in her textbook. We discussed more vocabulary terms such as coordinate plane, x-axis, and y-axis. During our session I also had her complete the review in her workbook for chapter 1. She had to complete three word problems which she finished on her own. Finally, I asked her to choose three CML word problems to complete. She got stuck on one problem that referred to a calendar. I realized she didn't know that the week started with Sunday so I had her look at a monthly calendar and she finally found the right answer.

We discussed the definition of a function, limit, the Sandwich Theorem, and point of discontinuity. We also reviewed specialty trigonometric limits and when points of discontinuity can be removed. Then, we tested that knowledge by discussing the student's assignment.

Tutoring review by Marisol in Second Ward, NC
We reviewed in preparation for the student's test on radical equations and imaginary numbers on Wednesday. We talked about methods for approaching her test when she receives it Wednesday as well as approaches and study methods that may be helpful and how she can use her textbook as a resource. I have also discussed with her the importance of at least looking at the material for 5 minutes every day to keep it fresh. She had remaining review problems assigned by her teacher, and we fixed the mistakes from her quiz and completed her review sheet together.

Tutoring review by Daniel in Second Ward, NC
We worked on exponential and logarithmic functions. The student seems to be having trouble remembering old topics. He is also trying to do too much in his head. I tried to get him to take small steps on paper to get to the final answer. We will continue to work on these.

Tutoring review by Jose in Second Ward, NC
The student wants to improve his learning methods; he recognizes that to be able to improve his mathematics skills he needs to know what's the best way to learn the subject. Today, we started solving a set of questions he has from his classes. We focused on identifying average rates of change, we solved long divisions, and found behaviors of polynomial expressions; a lot of material to solve in just 90 minutes. Therefore, I advised him to continue on his own solving similar problems from what we studied, so that he could develop his skills even better.
