Tutoring review by Brian in Clay, NY
The student is preparing for a test on Thursday. We covered linear equations; slope, distance, and midpoint formulas; and the Pythagorean theorem. The student understands the material. His algebra is good and he can manipulate squares/square roots to solve equations. We also talked about writing out homework neatly and in an organized manner. The student is supposed to review the vocab from the text for the next session.

The student has a quiz over trig functions this week. We finished her homework, which she had a few questions on, and then did numerous practice problems to prepare for her quiz. She is feeling a lot more confident and ready for the quiz.

Tutoring review by Angela in Clay, NY
This past week, the student got a B on her homework and an A+ on her essay. Today, we spent about 45 minutes working on an essay she has due this week. The rest of the time was spent working on homework problems for Week 3. This included some concepts from the previous weeks, including calculating confidence intervals, z-scores, and t-scores. New concepts covered included calculating the difference between groups for continuous variables and proportions. Since the problems are rather lengthy, we discussed strategies for how to complete the final in the allotted time and also how to maximize our time together. We agreed that compiling a sheet with all relevant formulas would help speed up problem solving. Also, in the coming weeks, we'll plan on touching on all new concepts at least once.

Tutoring review by Jimmy in Clay, NY
Today we covered fractions and ratios. We went over a quiz review with ratios, fractions, decimals, and long division. We also worked on a ratios project. The student is struggling the most with long division. He could also use some work on his multiplications table. He was very positive and ready to learn. I gave him a few tips on how to make his project better. He has most of his math down and he can solve problems. He just has to work on remembering the steps of long division.
