Tutoring review by Cedric in Menands, NY
We conducted a review of probability and factoring polynomial expressions. We then completed an overview of definitions and symbols of union and intersections of events. We discussed how wording translates into problem solving and equations. In addition, we completed practice and examples to master each concepts.

Tutoring review by Reyanna in Menands, NY
The student and I went over graphing, slope, and intercepts. We practiced graphing different functions and then figured out how to find the slope using two points on the graph. Then we went over what x and y intercepts were and figured out how to get each one. Then we used the x and y intercepts to graphs some of the functions. She did really well connecting the graphs to the functions and following the steps toward what we were looking for in each problem.

The student and I covered parallel lines, perpendicular lines, and the distance formula in preparation for her next test. She seemed to understand the material. We worked some problems in the text and left others for individual practice. Her last test grade was an 88, which was a big improvement over her first grade.

Tutoring review by David in Menands, NY
I helped the student begin reviewing for his first test on the first 2 chapters of his course. Much of this is a review of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry concepts necessary for calculus. We reviewed a lot about functions, different types of functions, as well as what it means for a function to be "odd" or "even." We also reviewed concepts of limits, by doing calculations of the slope of secant lines, and then moving one point closer to the fixed point -- simulating the limit process and the "instantaneous" slope at that point (e.g. what a derivative is ... without having to know what that is ... yet). We reviewed that the slope of a position vs. time graph is the velocity. He needs to review our notes, making sure he remembers things. I also encourage him to review many different problems to gain more confidence.

Tutoring review by Daniel in Menands, NY
We covered how to graph and transform functions. She had a great attitude towards the material and was very receptive. After the session, I suggested a website for more review. She seemed familiar with the website so I asked her to revisit it and to review their material for her upcoming test or quiz. She is very bright. She learned how to transform functions in a short amount of time, which I found very impressive. She also understood the concept behind piecewise functions very quickly and utilized her skills to draw a function resembling a heartbeat. She told me she wants to enter the medical field so I explained the importance of understanding functions and how they may be interpreted in a medical setting. Next session, I plan to review the order of operations and practice graphing more complicated f(x) functions.
