Hello! As a synthetic organic chemist with a specialized background in chemical education, I intend to use my knowledge and expertise of chemical concepts as well as my unique pedagogical approaches to aide students in their scientific studies. Over the past six years, I have devoted most of my time to tutoring students in varying chemistry courses. These include AP Chemistry, College Level General Chemistry, Introductory to Advanced Organic Chemistry. My goal as a tutor is to help empower and help cultivate a strong understanding of foundational chemical and biochemical principles to aide in your ability to tackle any problem presented. My style of tutoring - called Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) - helps students use the knowledge they have to solve problems. This approach emphasizes long-term understanding of material rather than short-term memorization through the use of me asking questions. This helps to pinpoint the exact concept in which the student is struggling, address the area of confusion of misunderstanding, and then build on the re-developed foundation of understanding. In addition, my approach allows me to meet students where they are at rather than assuming where they are at in their understanding of the material.

At my time at the University of Delaware I was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award for my continue effort and support to undergraduate student making their way through the chemistry pipeline. Now I hope to continue to support and educate students in the applied sciences in a different location. My services are available to students just beginning high school chemistry, enrolled in advanced placement chemistry courses in high school, those who are preparing for the chemistry/ organic chemistry portion of the MCAT, those enrolled in college level general chemistry and organic chemistry, and graduate level students needing help in physical organic chemistry or total synthesis and reactivity.
