In this session the student and I worked on ACT prep, focusing on the science section. We talked about strategies for working quickly, like identifying variables and distinguishing facts and theories. We also did some math review, including basic fraction operations.

The student did the math sections he was supposed to do for homework, then we reviewed them. He also did the science section he was supposed to do for homework, then we reviewed them. The student was assigned to finish 30 problems in a math section and an entire english section for homework for next time.

Trigonometry, reviewing how to use fundamental trigonometric identities to transform equations and make the math more manageable. Also reviewed Pythagorean methods of finding cos, sin, and tan. Unit circle review, and converting between degrees and radians.

Checked the student's approximate score, and assuming she would have scored about the same on the third section of the math, she would have gotten in the 600 range for her score. Awesome! This next session I want to really emphasize angles, since she's still struggling so much with them. Other than that, we'll do a broad overview of everything we've talked about so she's ready for the test on Saturday.

We talked about expressing preferences with "me gusta" and "te gusta." We also reviewed vocabulary about the body while singing "la sofa papa pokey." Finally, we finished constructing the emotion flashcards. The girls began moving beyond just responding with "bien" when asked how they were; for example, today they said they were tired and happy.
