Tutoring review by Maria in Orange City, FL
This was my first session with the student, so we went over the homework he had for that day, which was telling time on analog and digital clocks. We also looked at his spelling homework a bit. He did well with telling time, but we did review how to calculate how long something would take based on the start and end times.

The student had a new practice worksheet. He demonstrates good mastery of previously covered problem topics and I showed him how to do a few new problems types. There was a factoring problem of a difference in x and y raised to high number exponents with a common factor. He continues to demonstrate improved math performance and it will be interesting to see how he does on his next test Thursday. If he gets his paper back, we will review it.

In our most recent session, the student and I started by reviewing his biology assignments, which included the application of direct and indirect limiting factors on a population. We continued by reading through his assigned English chapters together, and continuing to mark passages where the main character's needs were and were not being met. We finished our session by reviewing the key locations for his history map quiz, and by selecting and printing a JStor article that he plans to use for his culminating essay. We plan to continue our work on history by working on a new chapter in our next session, and by continuing to research his upcoming paper on the Greek and Roman empires. As always, he was engaged and enthusiastic, and he showed an ongoing interest and curiosity in the material that we worked on.

Tutoring review by Vanessa in Orange City, FL
Today we covered multiplying and dividing polynomials. We also reviewed naming polynomials and combining like terms for an upcoming quiz the student will have. She did very well with the material and I believe she has a strong understanding of these concepts. She had a positive attitude during the session. She was able to complete all of her work while I was there. Overall great session. Hopefully she will have her quiz score updated soon so we can see her progress.

Tutoring review by Meagan in Orange City, FL
The student and I discussed the material she's been working on in class: decimal numbers. She communicated clearly what she understood so far, and that she still wanted help with writing decimals in expanded form. We practiced identifying place values, writing decimals in both expanded form and as mixed numbers, and completing number operations with decimal numbers. She catches on fairly quickly, and would benefit from more practice with these concepts -- maybe some practical application problems such as word problems dealing with money, etc. -- so that she can begin to solve the problems systematically and consistently. I also noticed that she is already in the habit of fully writing out the math problems she's given, which will serve her very well throughout her education, and especially as she's learning these fundamental concepts. I sent her a worksheet of practical application problems involving decimals to complete for homework.

Tutoring review by Asta in Orange City, FL
We started the session by going over the questions the student didn't understand from the Science tests that I sent her. If she does as well on the actual test as she did on the practices, she will be looking at around a 25 on the science portion. We then spent the rest of the time on math. I focused on solving algebraic and function questions. I showed her how to avoid doing algebra on the test and still get the correct answer.
