Tutoring review by Tracy in Rumson, NJ
We covered topics relating to exponential functions: graphing, solving, and evaluating. These topics hadn't been covered in the student's class, so we went over the basics as he completed various types of problems.

Tutoring review by Elise in Rumson, NJ
The student did well today! The bulk of today's tutoring session consisted of going over what she'll be tested on in the next couple of days. She's retaking a test next week (which is on the shifting of graphs, functions, law of sine/cosine) which I think she'll do well on! The test she has tomorrow is on logarithms and we spent quite a bit on it today. She has extra problems to do for both tests if she wants some extra practice tonight/this weekend. As long as she focuses, is patient when doing the problems, and checks over her work, she'll do great! It's those little, minor mistakes that build up and (potentially) cause huge damage on the tests. I told her to study a little bit each day rather than just spending Sunday reviewing it all in one day (for her test next week)...a little bit each day will get her more familiar with it so that when she sees it on the exam, she'll be more confident! With the content she worked on last time, I was glad to hear she got a higher score! I feel she's becoming more confident in math and she's beginning to take the lead when it comes to figuring things out. I'm excited to hear about her results next session!

Tutoring review by Corbin in Rumson, NJ
For this session, the student and I focused on solving functions of quadratic equations. This included graphing polynomials, as well as finding the domain and range of the function and determining the minimum and maximum intervals. At the end of the session, he said he understood the material.

Tutoring review by Johnny in Rumson, NJ
We went over trigonometry, specifically, sin, cos, and tan. I introduced the student to the unit circle and how the angles relate to the values of cos and sin for a specific angle. After that, we tried some application problems that took some thought process, and then we covered some translations of trig graphs. The student was very receptive, even though there was a lot of new information being thrown at her. Before I left, I told her that memorizing the unit circle would be useful for determining the value of trig functions.

Tutoring review by Jonathan in Rumson, NJ
Today, the student and I worked on focus/directrix problems, where you are given a directrix, focus, and vertex and tasked to get the equation of the parabola. We also worked on using a different form of the parabola equation to find the directrix, vertex, and focus. She is a hard worker and wants to do well. We worked on clarifying various concepts related to parabolas, such as how to plot them and their general behavior.

Tutoring review by Alexis in Rumson, NJ
During this session we focused on log properties, solving for x in log equations, change of base problems, derivatives of log and antiderivative a of log/ln. The student seemed to struggle with the log concept basically rewriting the functions in order to solve for x. After doing a lot of problems it seemed like he became very comfortable with the concepts. I used some strategies including simplifying expressions in terms of variables instead of numbers or functions.
