I followed up on the student's study session with a group of his friends that took place yesterday after our session ended. He told me he spent the majority of the time studying what was written on the study guides and then helped his classmates out with problems that they didn't understand. Teaching and explaining concepts to others is a good sign that he understands the material. We continued and completed the biology study guide and reverted back to geometry for a bit.

In today's lesson we first reviewed the student's log from the last three days. We then planned what he is going to do during this week. Then I helped him with his American government homework (explaining Article I of the Constitution). His homework for today was to finish with the rest of Article I. By Thursday he should have the rest of the articles finished.

For this session I instructed the student to complete an assignment where he would have to find the definition, word origin, and part of speech of 20 pre-selected from a dictionary I provided him. I had hoped that this assignment would give him an opportunity to manage his time while working within guided parameters of one reference material. I gave him 40 minutes to complete this assignment and he completed it under this expected time. After completing this assignment, I instructed him to complete an assignment where he would copy information on 10 mythological figures from the same dictionary. He was instructed to complete this assignment in 20 minutes and he did so. We also reviewed his Spanish homework from last session which he will use to complete his homework that I assigned at the end of the session.

We talked about the proper study setting which facilitates the best results. We also integrated engineering problems into our study plan as well as went over how to read through the book to truly understand the material for testing purposes.

The student and I worked together tonight to build her online calendar. Using her course schedule for the upcoming semester, we talked through times she could set aside to prep for class as well as review notes. I left her with some questions to consider as she reflects on the calendar we created over the next two weeks (she is going on vacation). During the next session we will ensure that the calendar is ready and sustainable for her sophomore year.

Using Adobe Camera RAW to edit and enhance digital images was covered, along with a discussion of different image file formats, and organizing file folders for easy retrieval of digital images. Also discussed was artist tablets (tablets which display the images vs. those that don't), and guidance on selecting an appropriate one for the required purpose.
