The student and I completed practice problems (supplied by her) that involved stereoisomerism. We had to identify whether a molecule had chiral centers, whether each chiral center was of the R or S configuration, identifying meso compounds, nomenclature, and identifying the different types of isomers. I noticed that she did indeed understand the content but was unable to know how to start each problem. She agreed with this assessment as well, and as we kept working through the problems, her confidence increased. As long as she and I keep working through problems so that she understands how to approach them, I believe she will do well on her upcoming organic chemistry exam.

Today, the student and I worked on environmental science, and writing. For science we worked on natural water sources, with an emphasis on fresh water. We reviewed the homework and she took a quiz. She made a 90 on the quiz! Yay! After science, we went over an essay of hers that I edited yesterday. We talked about the changes I made and the grammar, and what needs to be done to the paper. Overall, it was a very productive session and I am glad to be working with her.

We went over unit conversions a ton today: moles to grams, grams to atoms, atoms to moles, and everything in between. We went through a couple of empirical formula/ molecular formula problems and nailed down a good method to always come up with the right answer. Lastly we went over some limiting reactant problems which is something the student has a difficult time with but is making some awesome progress. We have gone over all of her past exam material so going forward we are going to focus on staying on top of the current subjects her in class!

Lastly, we discussed competitive and noncompetitive inhibition, and how it affects maximum reaction velocity, and Km.
