Math Tutoring review by Janay in Chesterfield
The student and I began the session by reviewing the multiplication facts as usual. Next time I will review 6's ,7's, 8's, and 9's. Next, we worked on comparing and ordering fractions. I created task cards. He created visual representations and then ordered the fractions. I think that he is becoming comfortable with fractions and what they represent. After ordering fractions, we completed the comparing fractions word problems handout. We ended the session with division. He is still working to instantly recall the multiplication facts. As he continues to become better at multiplication, division will come easier for him. He was able to complete 17 basic division facts in 2 minutes.

The student and I reviewed mixed number division and decimal multiplication with large numbers. I reminded her of cross-canceling and reducing fractions. We spent the rest of the session going over terms for word problems for the different operations. She made flashcards of terms such as "how many," "each," and "difference," with the word on one side and the associated operation on the other. I also gave her examples of some of the terms.

Math Tutoring review by Alex in Chesterfield
The student took a practice test created by myself tonight. We stopped before every question and discussed the steps necessary for a correct answer, then he solved the equation and we went over it. I was pleased to see the progress he is making with his algebra. He needed some reminders, but usually just the start of the process. I did not leave him with specific homework, but he is going to go over the test over the week in preparation for another practice test.
