I am currently an undergraduate student at Rice University pursuing a bachelor of science in biochemistry and cell biology on the pre-med track. One of my most memorable experiences in the medical field has been working as a research intern at Texas Children's Hospital and collaborating with genetic specialists to publish a research paper about a rare genetic disease. Medicine is truly one of my greatest passions, and biology has been one of my favorite subjects to tutor through the peer mentorship program at my high school. Through this program, I have also extensively tutored math (from middle school math all the way through IB Mathematics) and find myself drawn by the methodical nature of the subject. Many times, I find that students simply label math as "difficult" because the concepts are brand new and numbers seem like a foreign language. Relating math concepts to simpler everyday ones is one of the many strategies I use when tutoring math, and I have found a lot of success through it. Throughout high school, I have been very active in my school community as the Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, president of the Speech and Debate Team, and president and founder of the Random Acts of Kindness Club. Through these roles, I have mentored younger students in areas such as writing, research, and public speaking. Additionally, I am fluent in 4 languages (English, Urdu, Arabic, and Spanish), although my favorite one to teach is Spanish. Attending an international school has emphasized to me the importance of diversity, inclusion, and tolerance, and I believe that learning a new language is one of the best ways to reinforce these ideals. In my spare time, you can find me engrossed in arts and crafts, running my Etsy store, or volunteering my local art museum's kids' crafts classes. I also love listening to music, creating music on my violin, and singing various genres.

I'm passionate about helping students because I've seen how meaningful support can turn uncertainty into confidence. Having excelled academically myselfI graduated in the top 1% of my high school class and completed a rigorous AP curriculum in subjects like Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Calculus BC, English, Economics, and SpanishI know how transformative good teaching can be. I later earned my undergraduate degree from Northwestern University, where I studied Neuroscience, Anthropology, and Global Health. Those disciplines deepened my appreciation for how people learn, think, and connect across different perspectives. Throughout college and medical school, I've tutored students of varying ages and backgrounds in subjects including biology, chemistry, math, and writing, as well as standardized test preparation. My favorite subjects to tutor are biology and writingbiology because it helps students see the logic and beauty behind how living systems work, and writing because it empowers them to express complex ideas with clarity and confidence. My teaching philosophy centers on patience, adaptability, and curiosity. I approach each session as a collaboration, tailoring lessons to each student's needs and helping them build problem-solving skills rather than rely on rote memorization. Outside of academics, I'm passionate about photography and travelboth of which keep me creative, observant, and open-minded, qualities I bring into every tutoring interaction.

Elementary School Math Tutor • +11 Subjects
My name is Anjali! I am a senior at Duke University studying global health and biology on the pre-medicine track. I take mostly stem classes at Duke, including biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. In high school, I particularly enjoyed taking classes like AP Chemistry, AP biology, AP psychology, anatomy and physiology, and I received an AP scholar with distinction award as a result. With this focus in primarily STEM classes, I am able to help with a range of science based subjects but specialize in organic chemistry a little more than the others. I have experience instructing at Mathnasium, being able to help with a range of math levels from elementary math to high school level math. Because of my time there, I know how important a good understanding of any material depends on an instructor's ability to convey and I want to be able to help others just as my favorite professors have helped me. In terms of teaching, I like to introduce the subject of interest in a broad way with more conceptualization before focusing on certain problems that are good for comprehension. I think problem solving and understanding one's train of thought is one of the most beneficial ways to succeed in science and math so step by step problem solving is something I like to spend time on. However, my method can easily be adjusted to fit a students individual needs. I also tend to tutor with my Ipad, so it is easy for me to teach in a visual manner. I want to be able to help my students as much as possible, so any additional suggestions or resources can easily be implemented. I would also love to assist any high schoolers with the college application process and writing essays, as it is something I like to do! I am easy to reach and will try my hardest to provide the fastest responses. Feel free to contact me with any questions or for a lesson!

Pre-Algebra Tutor • +25 Subjects
As a current freshman at Rice University studying Biochemistry and Finance, I've developed the skills and knowledge needed to situate myself in our world today. From a young age, I've always wanted to learn more. My academic journey, however, had its challenges. The expectations at my competitive high school were often daunting, allowing me to learn to be persevering and self-motivated. Instead of allowing obstacles to deter me, I used them to grow and push myself further. This deepened my appreciation for education and its power to transform someone. My love for science is fueled by curiosity and my desire to understand "why" and "how." As I completed rigorous coursework in school and challenging extracurriculars outside of it, I developed a foundation in academics, problem-solving, and time management. These lessons were invaluable in my learning career; I want to share these lessons with my students. Growing up with a younger sister, I was often her guide. I taught her subjects I learned years prior and helped her navigate her hardships. I found joy as she overcame her academic hurdles and grew her confidence. I believe patience, encouragement, and personalized instruction facilitate an empowering learning environment. College admissions, in particular, were especially challenging. The uncertainty of the process was terrifying, but the accomplishment was satisfying. I want students to feel supported through their process and have a guide through this pivotal time. Every student should know that their dreams are attainable. I am committed to making a lasting impact as a tutor, inspiring students to embrace challenges and develop the resilience needed to succeed in their academic journey. Education is not just about learning but also about building character and confidence. I strive to bring this holistic approach to every tutoring session and help students shape their success stories.

"Make your life a masterpiece, imagine no limitations on what you can be, have, or do." -Brian Tracy B.S. in Cognitive Studies and Child Development & Education at Vanderbilt University; M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. As an educator, I am honored to have the opportunity to share my knowledge in order to contribute to the success of others! I firmly believe in a holistic style of education one that places an emphasis on the student as opposed to the content. From personal experience, I am aware that every person learns differently from one another and ground my style of teaching in what best suits my students. To me, it is important to empower all students and encourage their desire to learn; after all, exams and grades are only temporary, but knowledge lasts forever! I wholeheartedly enjoy teaching all subjects that fall within the realm of my expertise, but I am especially passionate about biology, chemistry, mathematics, writing, and most of all teaching how to learn!

I've been a university professor for the past five years and have been tutoring for as long as I can remember. I began tutoring informally while I was still in high school, helping friends get ready for their SATs, helping them with assignments. I realized quickly that I was suddenly helping half of my school so I decided to make some fliers, and some money, and offer my tutoring to anyone and everyone in my hometown. Suffice to say, some odd years have gone by since then and now, even as a full-time professor, I find myself enjoying the experience of tutoring and helping students on an individual level enough to continue doing it. With a background in the sciences and mathematics, and a graduate degree in philosophy I'm incredibly well-rounded in terms of what I'm capable of teaching and moreover, have a generally positive pedagogical approach to everything; I really do love teaching. Even fields in which I have little experience become a contest with myself to master solely for the sake of helping a student. I have extensive experience in reading, writing, and editing (I've been published several times over as both head author and editor) and its something that I truly love to do. I currently hold three Undergraduate degrees in Mathematics, Physics, and Linguistics, as well as two Graduate degrees in Philosophy and Theology. From basic English to advanced Banjo I look forward to engaging in any assignment that anyone may have for me!
