I received a Bachelors of Arts in Biology and a minor in Public Health from Temple University in 2010. In May of this year, I received a Masters Degree in Biological Sciences from Drexel University. During my time at Drexel University, I worked as a teaching assistant for a graduate level Anatomy course for a year. This included assisting students with cadaver dissections in gross lab, and tutoring students for the didactic portion of the course. Anatomy is not only my favorite course to tutor in, but also my favorite subject in biology. I find I never get bored teaching Anatomy, because even though we all have similar basic anatomical structures, no two bodies are alike. Although I am very passionate about learning, I make sure all my students have fun. During a typical tutoring session, I try to incorporate videos, textbooks, and models to help the student stay engaged. I make my sessions interactive in hopes of creating an environment where students can learn the material in a style that is most effective for them. In addition to Anatomy, I also tutor Physiology, Biology, General Chemistry, Physics, and elementary math. When I am not working as a tutor I love to travel, play music, and spend time with my friends.

I am currently a senior at CUNY Brooklyn College working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Children and Youth Studies. I work in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis with children who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder. I have experience tutoring students in elementary and middle school in a variety of subjects, but the subjects I have worked with most are English, Writing, and Math. I have worked as an after school counselor where a portion of each day was dedicated to assisting students with homework and often leading the class in completing assignments and problems that presented challenges. My favorite subject to tutor is Math because I struggled with Math from elementary school through High School. If it were not for tutoring, I would not have been able to grasp certain concepts on my own; a part of my philosophy in tutoring and in life is to use my experiences with challenges and learning to help other people reach a goal; for instance, using techniques I learned receiving math tutoring to help a student struggling in the same area. I believe it is important for students to understand their capability to solve a problem – my tutoring style involves an interactive approach in which I work from the bottom up with students, allowing them to express what they do understand first, before tackling that which might be confusing; I believe the confidence in knowing what you can do is important when learning to accomplish what you think you can’t do. A few of my interests outside of tutoring and working with children are playing my bass guitar, dancing, stepping, and playing with my dog! I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and also enjoy putting on programs and participating in community service with my chapter.

Hello! A little about myself - I am from Tulsa, OK and came to Boston for college. I studied Biomedical Engineering at both Boston University during undergrad and Tufts University for my masters. After much thought, I deviated from a medical school track to pursue a career in the medical device industry. My love for math and science started around middle school, and I was strongly influenced by my teachers. Through tutoring, I hope to be a similar influence. I really enjoy working with students of all ages (elementary to grads!) In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, hiking, and volunteering at the Animal Rescue League in Boston.

I am a graduate of New York University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering with a focus on Process Engineering. Currently, I am working towards higher education degrees and starting my career as an Engineer. Helping others to learn and understand material has always been a passion of mine. Immersing myself in a rigorous Engineering curriculum, I found myself working closely with peers and classmates in understanding the subject material. During my time at New York University, I served as a tutor for the Tutoring Center at the School of Engineering working with individuals and groups from a variety of subjects corresponding to Engineering, such as mathematics, physics, life sciences, with a primary focus on Chemical sciences and Chemical Engineering coursework. As a part of the University outreach program, I had the opportunity to work with high school students and provide tutoring after school for local high schools in the area with respect to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects. I have a strong affinity for tutoring Math and Science materials. These subjects require strong problem solving skills. In my experience working with students in Standardized test preparation, we find the time spent on the Math portions to be the most enriching with results. T.H White once claimed 'Education is experience, and the essence of experience is self-reliance.' I hold similar values to T.H White with respect to the learning process. There is always something to learn, and the best way to accomplish this is to immerse one-self in the subject. Through continuous repetition and exposure, problem solving skills will be developed and we become more confident in handling the problems that we face. I also do not believe in the concept of failure, for mistakes we make can be used to learn and better ourselves. Outside of academia, I am a club soccer coach training and teaching the game to young children and adolescence. I enjoy keeping my brain and body active through puzzles, reading, exercise, and many sports specifically soccer and volleyball. I enjoy activities that induce progress, as I am always looking to better myself.

I am a retired educator with almost 30 years of experience in the classroom and library. A large part of my classroom instruction involved tutoring in all core subject areas in grades K-5. As a librarian,I had the pleasure of working with middle school teens as a resource and mentor in academic competitions and other activities. I use scaffolding to build upon small successes until the student has mastered skills and achieved his/her goals.

I have been teaching students of all ages in Albuquerque for many years with experience tutoring in small group and 1:1 settings. Math tutoring is a passion of mine because I love helping students in a topic that so many of them find problematic. My tutoring style is that of a coach; I work with students to become better learners. It is a thrilling experience to witness students overcome obstacles and take on challenges that previously intimidated them.I enjoy taking on challenges myself and have competed in endurance events for over 10 years including the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon and multiple GORUCK challenges. I recently became a high altitude balloonist and have conducted several experiments in the stratosphere including the first test of a UK developed GPS transmitter. I also recently started learning the violin.

Let me start off by saying, I love to read. My dream job would be a place where I could read all day. It doesn't matter the subject, it's just the joy of reading that I love. The way reading takes you to different places in time. You can be an astronaut, enlist in the military, go back in time. The world is completely open and the limits are as far as your imagination can take you. I want to instill that love for reading in the children that I work with.A little background about myself. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management through the University of Phoenix. I am a US Navy veteran, where I spent 5 years of my life and was able to use my military benefits to completely pay for my college. I am thinking about going back to school for my Master's in Psychology, but I am taking a break from school for now. I have four children. A son, 20, who is in college, a daughter, 16, who will be graduating high school this year, then twin seven year olds, who are in the 2nd grade. I work at BAE Systems as a Material Control Planner II. To put it the easy way, I figure out which parts the Navy ships need to be fixed and I buy those parts.I am able to tutor reading, writing, math, study and homework skills, plus help with the ASVAB. My favorite subjects to tutor and to learn about would have to be reading and math. Both of these subjects are very interesting to me, and I want to make them fun and exciting for other people too.My hobbies outside of work and tutoring would be reading, video games, music and movies. My favorite authors are Danielle Steel, Jodi Picoult, and VC Andrews. My favorite video games are Call of Duty; Advanced Warfare, Rockband, and Guitar Hero. I will watch any action/adventure movies, along with horror and sci-fi. I am a huge Star Trek fan and Have plans to go to Tidewater Comic-con next year in May.
