Public policy analysis at the University of Chicago meant Noel spent his undergraduate years dissecting how economic principles — budget trade-offs, incentive design, cost-benefit frameworks — actually drive government decisions. That training makes him especially sharp on the macro side of economics, where fiscal policy and public spending aren't abstract textbook topics but the real-world problems he studied daily. Rated 4.9 by his students.

As a Finance major at Boston College, Andy engages with economic theory daily — from GDP and inflation to trade policy and market structures. He unpacks concepts like supply-and-demand equilibrium and opportunity cost by tying them to real headlines and business decisions, making the logic behind economic models click rather than feel abstract.
Elasticity, marginal analysis, market equilibrium, game theory — economics is ultimately about building models and knowing when they break down. Kelly studied Financial Economics at Duke and brings that analytical depth to both micro and macro concepts, unpacking the math behind the intuition so students can tackle problem sets and essays with equal confidence.
An economics degree from Penn gives Pryce deep fluency in everything from supply-demand equilibrium and elasticity to game theory and macroeconomic modeling. He connects abstract graphs and equations back to real market behavior, making concepts like deadweight loss or monetary policy transmission mechanisms click rather than just sit on a page.
I am also a first year medical student at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. I have extensive experience with premedical classes and have taken and tutored the MCAT exam. I placed in the 97th percentile of the MCAT exam and I understand what the test takers want students to know and how to bridge the gap between knowing the material and doing well on the test. I am always excited when a student finally has that "ah-ha" moment and declares that they now can see how all of these seemingly separate scientific topics are actually all related. The MCAT no longer seems scary, but turns into a means of truly learning this material and providing a strong foundation for the future.
From supply-and-demand basics to higher-level theory like game theory and market structure analysis, Towsif covers economics at every level as a Northeastern economics and business student. He's equally comfortable introducing elasticity to a first-timer and walking an AP or college student through welfare analysis and policy evaluation.
I'm not tutoring or buried in my textbooks, you will either find me rock climbing at the Triangle Rock Club, playing Ultimate Frisbee, working on my car, or enjoying the great outdoors (beaches, mountains, forests--you name it, I love it). On rainy weekends I enjoy tinkering with computers and old electronics, playing Pokemon, or picking at my guitar.
I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.
I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.
I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with High Honors. With eight years of experience working in education, I've tutored students in math, science, history, and English, as well as helped students prepare for standardized tests. I've guided adults towards passing the US Citizenship Exam and taught English in India, where I lived for six months. Whenever I work with a student I personalize the lessons to fit their particular learning style, since I know every student is unique and having the right fit can make all the difference in making learning fun and effective. My strengths are tutoring the social sciences and humanities, as well as making math and standardized tests approachable to students that normally don't like those subjects. In my spare time I like traveling, spending time in the outdoors (climbing & backpacking), meditation, and playing soccer. Next fall I will be beginning my PhD in Education at Harvard University.
I am a rising sophomore at Harvard College and am about to declare as a Mechanical Engineering concentrator, working towards a Bachelor of Science degree. I've always enjoyed sharing my knowledge with my peers and those around me and have done so in both formal and informal settings. I've been a tutor for both Math and Spanish programs in high school and enjoyed the strides I made with students. I am willing to tutor any subject I have a background in, but am strong in mathematics, the sciences, Spanish, history, writing, and ACT prep. I enjoy teaching mathematics most due to the joy I can see in children once they master a topic and can answer even pointed questions meant to stump them, and maybe even put their knowledge to real world use. As a tutor, I like to give a strong foundation to orient my student, and then gradually grant them more freedom and independence until they can feel themselves grasp the concept, pointing out pitfalls or common errors along the way; teachers who used these methods on me always left the most lasting impressions. Outside of my studies, I really enjoy listening to music, both old favorites and new interests, reading classics, and gaming/playing basketball with my friends.
I'm Solange - a recent graduate from Harvard where I studied Sociology & Women's Studies. I've been tutoring for eight years now, and have worked with a wide range of ages and in a wide range of subjects. Some of my specialties are college prep/test taking II worked in the admissions office on campus); social sciences; and literature/writing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Students often find microeconomic concepts like supply and demand curves, elasticity, and consumer behavior challenging because they require both mathematical reasoning and real-world application. Additionally, macroeconomic topics such as inflation, monetary policy, and GDP calculations can feel abstract without personalized explanation. Macroeconomic policy decisions and their ripple effects through an economy are especially difficult to grasp in a traditional classroom setting where one-size-fits-all pacing doesn't account for individual learning needs.
Personalized 1-on-1 instruction allows tutors to slow down on these trouble spots, use concrete Boston-area examples (like housing market economics or local business trends), and build a stronger conceptual foundation before moving forward.
In a Boston classroom with an average student-teacher ratio of 11.2:1, teachers must move at a pace that works for most students—which often means some students fall behind on tough concepts while others get bored waiting. Personalized tutoring lets tutors adapt in real time to your learning style, spending extra time on confusing topics and accelerating through material you've already mastered.
Tutors can also connect abstract economic principles to real situations you care about—whether that's understanding inflation's impact on your family's budget, analyzing local Boston industries, or preparing for AP Economics exams with targeted practice. This customized approach typically leads to deeper understanding and better exam performance than classroom instruction alone.
Varsity Tutors connects students with tutors who support economics across multiple levels: introductory high school economics courses, AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, IB Economics, and college-level economics courses including principles of economics, intermediate micro/macro, and specialized topics like labor economics or environmental economics.
Whether you're in a Boston public or private school working through foundational concepts or preparing for AP exams (where understanding cause-and-effect relationships between economic variables is crucial), tutors can meet you where you are and help you progress toward your goals.
AP Economics exams (both Micro and Macro) test your ability to apply economic theories to real-world scenarios, interpret graphs correctly, and explain policy trade-offs—skills that require more than memorization. A tutor can help you master free-response question strategies, practice interpreting supply/demand and other economic graphs under timed conditions, and clarify the connections between concepts (like how interest rate changes affect employment and inflation).
Tutors also identify your specific weak areas through targeted practice tests and focus your remaining study time where it matters most, which is especially valuable since the AP exam requires both breadth of knowledge and depth of understanding. Many students find this personalized review process raises their confidence and scores significantly.
Yes, economics involves quantitative skills like interpreting graphs, calculating percentages, understanding ratios, and sometimes working with basic algebra. However, you don't need to be a math expert—you need to understand how to apply these tools to economic problems. Many students find the math less intimidating once they grasp the economic concepts underneath.
If math is holding you back, a tutor can help you build both the math skills and the economic intuition you need. They can show you why economists use graphs and equations (to visualize relationships and make predictions), which often makes the technical side click into place faster than classroom instruction alone.
Many students notice clearer understanding of specific topics within 2-3 sessions once a tutor identifies exactly where confusion is happening. However, meaningful improvement in exam performance or overall mastery typically takes longer—usually 4-8 weeks of regular tutoring depending on your starting point and how often you meet.
The key is consistent practice between sessions. Tutors often assign targeted practice problems, encourage you to review past work, and use techniques like spaced repetition to help concepts stick. You'll likely notice a shift from feeling lost in class to being able to explain economic ideas in your own words—that's when you know deeper learning is happening.
When you connect with Varsity Tutors, you'll tell us about your economics course, your goals (better grades, AP exam prep, college readiness), and your learning preferences. We match you with an expert tutor who has experience teaching economics at your level and can work around your schedule.
You'll have a chance to try out your match and make sure the fit is right—great tutoring relationships are built on clear communication and shared goals. Most students get started within a few days of reaching out.
