I am currently a graduate student at Tufts University School of Medicine. As a former biology major at Boston College, I have extensive experience in Biology as well as other science courses. Outside of tutoring I enjoy exercising and skiing. I also enjoy exploring new restaurants with friends.

I'm currently finishing my final year at ASU's Honors College with a major in Creative Writing. I've worked in teaching and tutoring positions with everyone from first graders to college students. I just returned from spending my last semester studying in Prague, Czech Republic, travelling extensively and broadening my perspective. I also received the Flinn Scholarship, a prestigious full-ride award given to 20 of the best and brightest students in Arizona out of a pool of nearly 600.My tutoring style is 100% student-first. I want to make sure we're operating exactly at the level and pace where the student feels comfortable, and using educational techniques that work for this student in particular. I want my relationship with my students to feel like a friendship, and ideally, I want us both to have some fun.I'm a huge arts fanatic, particularly for music; ask me about my favorite albums of last year and I could probably give you a top 200. I was born in Ohio. My family moved to Miami, Florida at the end of my 4th grade year. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Child Development at Florida State University, my Master's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University, and my Ph.D. in Child and Family Development from the University of Georgia. I currently live in Burke, Virginia but plan to move back to Colorado in the near future

In high school, I was the recipient of the Continental Mathematics League award and earned a near perfect score on my math SATs. I have instructed students 2nd through 12th grade at a math tutoring center where I acquired a variety of methods for teaching math skills and numerical fluency. My personal strength is in identifying an individual's challenges and figuring out an approach that will work with that person's style of thinking. Through these programs, I worked with students from the age of 5 to 18 years old. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Reading, Comprehension and other English/Literature focused areas. Through my tutoring sessions, I make it a point to develop a trusting relationship with my students, opening an open dialogue and allowing for the most productive and effective sessions possible. I truly believe that education is a determinant of subsequent successes and as such, should be a priority in our communities. My experience as a tutor began at an early age in working with my classmates in subjects such as biology, chemistry, and geometry. In college I spent time with elementary age children at an after school community center working on reading and writing using games and activities. In addition to having worked with middle schoolers on English and social studies homework, I also worked at the senior center as a personal computer tutor. Through my placement in the Junior League of Indianapolis, I worked with School on Wheels, a structured tutoring program involving reading and writing activities in addition to homework assistance. Last year I was a reading tutor for the Nashville public school system, working with second and third grade students on reading and writing. Currently I serve as a volunteer at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in the school program working with children in the inpatient unit. I am passionate about serving my peers and my community.Having fun and finding what motivates students is key to not only wanting to do the work, but also to retaining what they have learned. For example, during my time as a tutor for the Nashville public school system, one student and I had a particularly close connection. She flourished as a student, and in the end wrote a particularly entertaining rap song using the lessons she had learned with me.
