I am a graduate of the University of Chicago where I received my undergraduate degree in political science. Right after graduation, I worked as an academic and test prep tutor as well as admissions consultant in Hong Kong. For the past two years, I worked with a number of students to help prepare them for college in the United States.

I am exploring my creativity by pursuing a double major in Asian Languages and Cultures with a focus in Korean, studying abroad in South Korea as a Benjamin A. Gilman Scholar, leading workshops that teach 3D printing and CAD for undergraduate students as the president of 3D4E, advocating for the first-generation and low-income student community as the Outreach Chair of the Quest+ Scholars Network, and getting involved with the Society of Women Engineers' outreach committee. I currently hold a work-study position as an administrative clerical aide in the Institute of Sustainability and Energy at Northwestern and was an undergraduate researcher in the John Rogers Lab. As I look forward with aspirations of applying to graduate school, areas of research in biomedical engineering and biotechnology that I am particularly interested in include biomaterials, pharmaceuticals, and drug delivery systems. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy learning on my own and sharing my experience and knowledge with my peers and other students. I hope to make use of my experiences with academics and learning in high school and so far in my undergraduate career in order to effectively tutor students who may be experiencing the same struggles in learning that I also experienced.

I am currently a student at Duke University studying Biomedical Engineering and Economics. Just a little bit about me and some of my interests. Some of my favorite academic interests include memoirs and modern classics. I think Catcher in the Rye is still one of my all time favorite books but Percy Jackson, a modern classic, is up there too. Beyond academics, I take great guilty pleasure in watching TV shows such as Westworld, Sherlock, How I Met Your Mother, and even The Bachelorette when I'm at a low point.

I am a recent graduate of Yale University and incoming first year medical student at Columbia University. Originally from the DC area, I have always had a passion for science and medicine and pursued a degree in Biology while at Yale. During the 2008-2009 academic year, I tutored science, math, English, history, and Mandarin Chinese part-time with a DC-based tutoring company. At Yale, I worked as a freshman counselor to provide academic and career advice to incoming freshmen. I have taken both SAT and MCAT test prep classes and am familiar with both tests as well as the preparation necessary to score well. My personal career goals include attending medical school to pursue either immunology/infectious diseases or psych/neurology, teaching biology at the university level, and working in public/global health with either the CDC or the WHO.

I am a senior at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania studying Finance and Operations & Information Management. I am an Executive Board Member of one of the largest community service groups on campus, the West Philadelphia Tutoring Project, so I have had plenty of experience tutoring elementary and middle school students in reading and math in the Philadelphia area. I am currently a sophomore pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in Medicine, Health, and Society. Being a student, Ive understood the frustration of not knowing what to do or who to turn to in the moment I dont understand something. This feeling can be very disheartening, but having the right person to guide you can make all the difference. For struggling students, I want to be that person to help them reach their full potential. In high school, I tutored people (mostly high school students like myself at the time) within the community, and it was personally rewarding every time I saw a student gain confidence in their studies.

I am a student at Vanderbilt University, majoring in Neuroscience while on the pre-med track. In the future, I hope to become a pediatrician. I have experience with and tutor in a wide range of subjects, and am most passionate about helping students with standardized exams. I am proficient in both Pinyin and Mandarin Phonetic Symbols and can write professionally in both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. I have studied linguistics, phonology, semantic, and Chinese paleography and have used them to facilitate my teaching with great success; I am also very familiar with both contemporary and ancient Chinese literature. I have five-year experience in private tutoring in Chinese, as both a language skill and a school subject, in preparation of the national college admission tests, and in undergraduate-level Chinese composition. I also wrote and edited a published preparation material for Chinese language of the National Basic Competence Test. In addition, I have worked on editing college and graduate school admission essays since 2005. Most of my students were accepted by top universities in Taiwan, such as National Taiwan University, National Taiwan Normal University and National Yang-Ming University; while I, too, taught and designed the course for a student with learning disorder and had a desirable result.

I am a Dartmouth College senior majoring in Computer Science and Digital Arts with several years of tutoring/mentoring experience. I have achieved scores in the 99th percentile for both the ACT and SAT prior to college. While in high school (St. Paul Academy graduate), I spent my time volunteering at the homeless shelter, helping out with their daycare and tutoring children.
