Phil: University of Wisconsin-Madison tutor
Certified Tutor
Hello! I am a writer with a BA from New York University in Comparative Literature, Politics, and Philosophy; an MFA in Creative Writing; and professional experience as a writer and editor in multiple settings. I also have experience as a tutor to students ranging in age from 1st grade to adults, have taught after-school activities for elementary school students, assisted teachers in middle school classrooms for students with special needs, and have taught a section of an undergraduate course.
Personally, I learn best through an interdisciplinary approach, when I am able to see how different subjects, theories, or activities are related to each other. I know that it is important for many students to be exposed to different ideas and modes of learning when tackling a particular project. I strive to relate each subject to the students' strengths and interests. I know that learning difficult subjects may not be fun, so I strive to maintain a level of trust and support that can guide the student through those challenges.
