The student and I discussed the book he is reading for his lit class - Fast Food Nation - and set up a basic reading plan for finishing the book by the end of the month. Then we did some writing prompts from his creative writing book.

We went through questions from the student's homework assignment. She had already gotten most of the answers. We practiced similar problems and resolved ones she had trouble with. She knows how to do the math, but sometimes can't decide on what approach to use. We will continue to work on it.

We covered graphing translations, reflections, and rotations. The student was very engaged in studying and seemed to have self-awareness about what she did and didn't know. I will be sending her some extra problems so she can prepare for her test.

The student is indubitably an extremely intelligent boy. I'm looking forward to being able to work with him on a more detailed level. His focus improves nearly each week. I'm finding that less and less I need to repeat questions and presentations of material; he seems to be aware that he must be accountable for his own attention and is clearly working hard towards this. We studied together for his Math test tomorrow, and I quizzed him on material for Religion, on which he will be quizzed for a grade on Wednesday. He performed excellently in both subjects.
