I'm here if you need help learning a concept from scratch, preparing for a test, or if you have specific questions you need answering on homework or assignments. I've been tutoring fellow classmates since I ran study sessions during my study hall in high school. While at Purdue University, I made extra money tutoring fellow classmates, as well as running weekly help sessions for a few biology courses. I finished at Purdue with majors in Ecology, Evolution, & Environmental Biology and also Philosophy. I received minors in Classical Studies and Wildlife.I am now working towards my master's in education, and I am substitute teaching in Detroit. I am looking to tutor on the side while I work my way through school. I love teaching and I dedicate myself to seeing my students comprehend the topics at hand.

As a former Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (UTA) for both introductory biology and upper level genetics, I greatly value accessibility in education. In May 2020, I earned a Bachelors of Science in biology while minoring in chemistry and Spanish. I will start medical school this year so if you're interested in navigating the premed process, I can help with that too! My philosophy on teaching includes tailoring study styles to each student. I look forward to learning what works best for my students and ensuring that they meet their educational goals.

Learning about science has always come naturally to me, though to many it can be a challenging topic. I believe that my natural aptitude for it comes from a deep and genuine interest in the subject. I recognize the grave importance of instilling scientific knowledge in our future generations, so it is my goal to help students overcome any struggles or intimidation of the subject. I aim to do this by encouraging the same interest and curiosity in the subject that has lead me to pursue a career in biology. I believe that the key to conquering all things science is to be curious about the world around us and how it all works.

My name is Jennifer and I am a tutor with Varsity Tutors. I am passionate about helping students achieve their academic and career goals and help them enjoy school and learning! I went to the University of California Irvine for a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and to Elms College for my Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences. I have been a volunteer test writer, exam proctor, and test grader for the Orange County Science Olympiad for 3 years and have had various tutoring and teaching experiences for the last 7+ years. I have taught monthly science sessions at an elementary and middle school in an underserved area in Long Beach County over a span of 3 years. I have had one-on-one tutoring experience with a middle school student for over 1 year for Math and Science primarily, but also provided support in English, History, and Introductory Spanish. Additionally, I worked with undergraduate students as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Advanced Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory at Elms College for 1 year. I also was a volunteer Microbiology Lab Teaching Assistant at Los Angeles City College for 1 semester. I come from a low-income background and I know what it was like to struggle through classes alone or with no outside help. I am here to provide that resource that I wish I had growing up and I want to empower students through knowledge and academic success. My favorite topics to tutor in are any of the sciences, as the sciences are my favorite subject and also what I have the most expertise and experience in. As a middle and high school student, I was also heavily involved with science programs such as MESA, Science Olympiad, and L.A. County and California State Science Fairs as participants. I would describe my teaching style as fun and engaging as well as informative and helpful. I use a variety of aids to help students approach areas of struggle.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from UCF and I am starting my Health Care Informatics MS program in the fall 2015 (also at UCF).My favorite subjects during my undergraduate career include Algebra, Trigonometry, Cell Biology and Endocrinology. I would describe myself as a science nerd who is also adept at mathematics. My personality is suited for tutoring since I am very patient and laid-back and I get a lot of satisfaction from successfully explaining concepts to others. My hobbies include working out, playing basketball and going to the beach.

I recently graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and a Spanish minor in Spring of 2022. I plan to attend graduate school to study immunology in a few years, but for now I'm focused on getting more research (and life) experience.I came onto the teaching scene in a bit of an unconventional way. Throughout high school, I was involved in an organization called The Faraday Society (named in honor of scientist Michael Faraday). We performed awesome chemistry demonstrations for a variety of audiences, from elementary school kids to the general public. While we enjoyed using silly skits to engage with the audience, our primary goal was always to foster enthusiasm toward science. This gave me unexpected training in how to tailor an explanation to the audience receiving the information, while also keeping their attention and helping them have fun (okay, okay... the fiery explosions might've helped a bit).During my undergraduate studies, I worked as an undergraduate teaching assistant (UTA) for the Undergraduate Biology Lab Department, teaching introductory biology labs as well as biology labs for non-biology majors. From the perspective of student and teacher, it seems that having an instructor who is enthusiastic about the material and fosters their students' curiosity can make all the difference.

With more than seven years of tutoring/teaching experience, perhaps I am the tutor for you! I have a M.S. in Biology with research experience in animal behavior and ecology. I am currently a part time faculty member at Miami University's Regional campuses and UC Blue Ash. I teach various introductory level biology courses including anatomy and physiology and environmental science. My tutoring interests span from biology to math to English to test prep. My favorite of the maths is algebra, I enjoy editing papers and assisting with writing, and I have experience with ACT test prep. My teaching philosophy is that practice makes perfect! I also try to make the subject as interesting as possible to engage the student in the material. In my spare time I enjoy hiking in the woods with my border collie and playing board games or video games.
