Aerospace Engineering Tutoring FAQ
So you want to be an aerospace engineer? The name rocket scientist conjures up images of people of admirable intellect. Aerospace engineering applies rigorous science and math to the fascinating subject of flight. The career field calls for people who can use their skills to design, build, inspect, and test aircrafts for use by defense industries, airline manufacturers, and space programs. The field tends to attract those who have an affinity for flying or astronomy. Aerospace engineering is highly specialized, so you need to be well versed in other areas of engineering, as well. Knowledge of materials science is essential to the development of flight vehicles. Electrical and mechanical engineering are also necessary, to varying degrees, depending on the type of flight or space vehicle with which you are working. If you plan to work with avionics, you will need computer engineering skills. Outside of mere engineering areas, you must also have a comprehensive knowledge of physics, especially in areas like fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, and the ubiquitous propulsion.
Synthesis of all of these different elements of math, science, and engineering can be seemingly impossible. The fascination with flight and the passion for science may be present and yet vastly outstrip your abilities in multi-variable calculus and linear algebra. Furthermore, you might find some engineering disciplines to be straightforward and intuitive, while others are complex and elusive. Since aerospace engineering programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level are so competitive, you can't merely settle for a cursory understanding of engineering, math, and science concepts. You need to fully comprehend the various concepts and how they can be applied to one another in relation to aerospace.
Varsity Tutors can help you connect with exceptional aerospace engineering tutors throughout the country. Tutors are skilled engineers themselves -many are enrolled in graduate school or work in the private sector. Enrolling in aerospace engineering tutoring can help you evaluate your skills to determine the areas in which you need more practice in and the areas in which you have sufficient or exceptional skills for graduate and post-graduate work. You can work with educational directors to fill out your student profile, which details information like your schedule, syllabus, goals, strengths, weaknesses, and testing dates. Your hand-picked tutor will use this as the basis of your flexible, personalized learning plan.
With a custom-tailored lesson plan, you receive the education you need and desire. Your tutor will keep each session flowing at your personal learning rate. They may provide special learning materials, such as news pieces or other relevant literature, that can help solidify the information within your mind. Further, they can quickly adjust the plan on the fly if you need to spend more time on something or are ready to move on to the next concept. You can use your tutor's services to prepare for a test or get help with homework, as well.
Tutors offer one-on-one sessions, which allows you to break out of the constraints of a study group and focus strictly on the areas with which you need the most help. Instead of feeling nervous to ask questions or falling behind in class, you can focus on your personal learning goals to achieve them. Your tutor will ensure that you remain on track for success while providing feedback and assessments along the way.
Tutors can meet with you in a convenient location, whether that is a coffee shop or library, or even in your home. You can choose between in person and face-to-face online tutoring. Tutors understand how competitive the aerospace engineering field is and how important it is for you to maximize your grades for graduate school and employment.

This session was devoted to studying for the student's upcoming exam. I tried extra hard to keep him focused during this session and it seemed to pay off. We worked through all of his exam study guide and he was able to relay the correct answers back to me. He was able to retain a lot of information during this session. At the very end of the session we reviewed his study plan and testing plan so that he is prepared to do well on his exam.
We set a study plan for the student's Biology test the next day and started it. She would read a section from the book and take notes, then compare it to her class notes to fully understand it and repeat it. Then she would continue to repeat all of the material in her test until she understood and memorized it.
We reviewed a little old material and then worked on new topics to help catch up from missed school. This week was all about the various types of plant life, how they are classified, how they transfer water/nutrients, how they reproduce, etc.
The student and I went over the chapter on ecosystems. The chapter was mainly defining the key terms, such as: biome, ecosystem, population, community, species, etc. I mainly asked her questions because she said she already read the material.
This was our first meeting and we covered the format of the class, how we would best approach the subject material to review and expand upon concepts, and how we would structure future sessions. We started looking over the current unit covering evolution and will begin next session with review of concepts already covered in class and looking forward to the next topics. Repetition of concepts and going deeper into detail to mimic the testing procedures appear to be the key to success moving forward.
The student's class is studying animals now, and we went through basic characteristics of animals that distinguish them from other kingdoms. Then we covered proifera, cnidaria, and nematoda.
