I have had long lasting tutoring experiences while attending ODU school in the following subjects: general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, microbiology, etc. I was an undergraduate teaching assistant for organic chemistry, biochemistry, and microbiology. I have maintained a 3.9 GPA throughout my B.S degree. I have been working with so many of these subjects that I know how to make potential students master the subjects. I will work closely with you to help you reach your goals.

I graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology, Health, and Society. I received a minor in Global Health. While at Cornell, I was a teaching assistant and also spent time tutoring young men for their GED exams and fellow students in Biology and Chemistry. I currently tutor various subjects, but feel most strongly about Biology. I also find that I enjoy tutoring for MCAT preparation, as I understand how difficult the process can be, and wish to help others in the way that my own MCAT tutor helped me.

I recently graduated the Johns Hopkins University where I majored in Applied Mathematics and Statistics with a focus in Computational Biology. I am originally from the San Francisco Bay Area but currently work at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a research fellow during my gap year as I am applying to medical school now as well.Since high school, I have always had a passion in tutoring and teaching. My AP Chemistry teacher gave me my first opportunity when she asked me to tutor other students in her class. Since then, I have been independently tutoring middle and high school students in math, chemistry, biology, physics, and with SAT/ACT Prep. As a math major, math is my favorite subject however, I love all the other sciences as well!In terms of my teaching style, my philosophy is "students first". I like to run my sessions by allowing the student to tell me what they need help with the most. I generally ask them to have a few questions or practice problems they are struggling with handy so that we can use that as a guideline. Once I get a sense of the type of problem or subject that is challenging, I like to give a short lecture/lesson on the topic to really solidify those principles. I then will go back to the original practice problems and ask the student to solve it given their new understanding. Once they have mastered those, I like to give a few of my own problems in that topic to allow students the opportunity for more practice. I repeat this process however many times is necessary so that the student is now a master in that subject.Outside of academics, I enjoy playing tennis and the drums (two hobbies that I have kept in touch with since elementary school). I also love to play basketball, cook, and travel.

I am currently a 4th year medical student at the University of Kansas, pursuing family medicine and maternal health. While I've tutored a variety of subjects in the past, I am especially passionate about teaching math and science. These are two subjects I am personally very interested in and have had success passing on my excitement to students. I also enjoy preparing students for test prep (ACT) and elementary and middle school-age students. My approach to teaching is to understand the student as an individual. I like to understand the student's strengths and weaknesses and work from there to expand their knowledge in a given subject. My goal is to push each of my students to venture beyond their limits and understand each concept, rather than learning the steps of a process.

AIMS Prep Tutor • +45 Subjects

As both a tutor and a student in the Tucson area, my personal interests and passion for learning motivated me to try my best to study, understand, and teach in a variety of fields. I am very excited to motivate others' interests in a variety of subjects as well--indeed, whatever drives them to excel as students. It takes a lot of hard work to get a pupil interested in the core subjects necessary for today's educated workforce, but I hope that through my experiences, those who struggle with Middle School, High School, and College coursework--not to mention the daunting task of college applications--can benefit immensely. I am committed to professionalism as a tutor, and I guarantee visible progress in my pupils; but I'm a regular person, too. In between Chemistry labs or Literature classes, you might find me reading a book on Heritage Hill, or walking my dog with my fiance.I am a recent graduate of the University of Arizona, wherein I achieved Summa Cum Laude status with degrees in English and Russian (with a minor in Pre-Med), but I have been active in accumulating useful experience in editing and writing scientific and nonfiction content. This is because I am very passionate about entering a career that provides the resources to move education forward, adapt to reforms in educational policy, and opens a dialogue with clients and educators about sustaining comprehensive educational technology that centralize curricula, assessment, reporting, monitoring, and instructional effectiveness in order to make education more accessible to the nation's students. I have both the education and the experience to be of great use as a tutor. With the upcoming implementation of Common Core Standards for Science content areas, I am equipped with the tools and experience in areas both technical and practical to help students adapt to scientific (as well as math and language arts) learning objectives. I am a published author and a working editor, writing works for our own UA literary magazine Persona as well as devoting my time to freelance tutoring and editing for multiple students in the UA Writing Program. I am also currently participating in an internship as a technical writer and educator at CCLAC, Inc.' an NPO involved in formulating curricula for digital literacy components of the pre-existing Common Core in low-income regions of Tucson, Arizona and Sonora, Mexico. All in all, I have several years of tutoring and instructing children from Middle School to College age groups that struggle, particularly in core concepts critical for mainstream education in the US.
