I am a driven, positive, affirming tutor who is happy to help students in any way he can. I graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College in 2020, and I obtained my Master's in Political Science from the University of Toronto in 2022.In 2016, I received an SAT score of 1550. That year, I also received a 5 on my AP exams in Calculus AB, English Language, U.S. History, and U.S. Government.I am happy to tutor students in mathematics, English, and social sciences (e.g., history, government). I especially enjoy tutoring pre-algebra and algebra.I believe in a practice-based approach in which I take students step-by-step through the concepts at hand. After practicing together with my guidance, the student will soon be able to apply what they have learned on their own.

I first began tutoring at the University of Arizona Writing Center while earning my B.A. in Creative Writing and Spanish & Portuguese. This position not only gave me the opportunity to work closely with undergraduate students, but also to help high school students edit their personal statements in preparation for college.Upon graduation in 2008, I became a Teach for America corps member. Through the organization, I taught English for two years in the Isaac School District while earning my M.A. in Elementary Education at Arizona State University. During this time I adopted many of Teach for America's core beliefs: that all students should have the opportunity to receive an excellent education; that every student is capable of succeeding; and that family income should not determine a student's academic success. After my two-year commitment to the corps ended, I moved to Japan and taught English through Phoenix Sister Cities. During this time, I had the opportunity to work with students ranging from preschool to adult. I enjoyed traveling to many of Japan's beautiful cities and neighboring countries while learning about the language and culture.Although I have enjoyed my experience in the classroom immensely, I primarily enjoy working with students on a one-on-one basis. This gives me the opportunity to get to know them as individuals and really keep track of their progress. I view tutoring as more of an exchange than traditional teaching; I believe my students and I can work together to solve any problem. When assisting with a writing assignment, for example, it will only be a temporary solution for me to simply pull out a red pen and begin editing. Instead, I prefer to have a conversation with the student to explain the "why" and "how" behind the necessary revisions so that we can improve the piece together. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy traveling, gardening, watching movies, playing racquetball, and spending time with friends and family. As I live near ASU's Tempe campus, I enjoy finding fun things to do in the area such as attending shows at Gammage Auditorium, finding new restaurants to try, and relaxing at Tempe Town Lake.

I am a Creative Writing (English) major at Macalester College with a passion for writing, books, and hockey. I also have a minor in Classical Languages (Latin) and plan to attend law school after graduation. I am a captain on Macalester's club hockey team and enjoy being involved in the team and in helping players who are new to the sport learn to love it as I do. I hope to apply that same passion to helping students achieve their academic goals.

I am a graduate of Princeton University, where I earned a bachelor's degree in economics. My work experience includes 5+ years as an investment analyst at a private wealth management firm and 18 months at a digital media start-up. I first began tutoring in high school and have successfully helped many middle school and high school students improve their grades and/or prepare for standardized tests. While I'm comfortable teaching in many subject areas, my specialty is standardized test preparation. In addition to having a strong understanding of the subject matter covered on these exams, test-taking strategy is a strength of mine, including time management and general multiple choice strategy. I was a National Merit Scholar and AP Scholar with Distinction in high school and I enjoy helping others perform to the best of their ability on these sometimes stressful exams. As a tutor, I strive to keep students engaged by employing a more hands-on approach to learning. I aim to minimize time spent "lecturing" and instead focus on working together with students to solve problems. I've found tutoring sessions to be most productive when students remain actively involved in the learning process.I played soccer through college and remain an avid sports fan. In my free time I enjoy reading, swimming, and playing basketball.

My declared major was Math with a minor in chemistry. I was a volunteer tutor at my college in the math lab, and I also worked at Ft. Lupton High School/Middle School as an A.V.I.D tutor; through these experiences I am comfortable tutoring students at a variety of age/skill levels. I love learning and vieweducation as the endeavor to attain knowledge and wisdom, which is one of the highest human experiences. Tutoring any student is a great privilege and opportunity to nurture and guide individuals as they embark on the great adventure which is the advancement of their education, a task which I do not take lightly. I had to make a choice in picking my major, and I chose for it to be in the field of science. However, my strongest subject is math, although in my heart I love science, math, and literature equally!

Written communication is both my passion and my profession. A graduate of University of Pittsburgh (BA), New York University (MA), and Georgia State University (PhD), I have been actively writing and teaching for nearly twenty years. My areas of expertise include Business Writing, Composition, Creative Writing, Editing, Journalism, Literature, and Rhetoric. I have helped students at the high school and college level prepare for exams and essays with great success. In addition, I regularly write articles, copy, and news for popular and scholarly audiences. My skills as an editor have been honed over the years, and I am eager to help students learn to proofread, edit, and revise their work so that it meets the expectations of their instructors and peers. Currently, I teach college English in the Atlanta area and, in my spare time, I read widely, compose electronic music, exercise, and experiment with vegetarian cuisine in the kitchen.

I am a recent graduate of Purdue University having majored in English, Communication, and Creative Writing, and minored in Linguistics, Arabic, and Religious Studies. I have three years of experience working as a college writing center tutor, where I assisted undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate students with many different types of writing projects. In addition to working as a tutor, I led conversational groups with nonnative speakers of English, and created workshops for students to improve specific writing skills. I also have two years of experience tutoring K-12 students in basic math and English concepts. While I tutor multiple subjects at various levels of difficulty, I am most passionate about English, specifically in essay writing. As a mentor, I believe that my job is to reinforce agency and confidence in the learner. This is done best when education is treated as a mutual transfer of knowledge, and I am always learning something new from my students.
