As a medical student, I tutor because I know that we all need a little help sometime. There have been many moments as a student that I felt overwhelmed by too many facts, but in those moments I've always made it through because I found someone to talk it through with. Instead of drowning in a sea of facts, my personal learning philosophy is to find the big concepts and fill in the facts from there. I love watching students "get it"-- its exciting. Learning shouldn't be about memorization but understanding.

College Level American History Tutor • +36 Subjects
I am a graduate of The University of Texas where I received my PhD in the Humanities with a focus on History and Literature. In addition to my extensive experience in the classroom, I have also raised a child with learning differences so I am keenly aware that everyone learns at their own speed and in their own way. There are no quick fixes and the student must be a party to their own success. I firmly believe that with organization, a good work ethic, and the proper learning environment, all students can do well in school. However, the most important ingredient is self-confidence, which is only achieved through accomplishing target goals. In the classroom, I concentrate on the individual needs of each of my students by helping them with organizational skills, reading, research techniques, and especially writing. This approach enables each student to not only develop their own style, but provides them with learning tools which can be applied to other areas of study.

My sense of humor follows the 80/20 rule: 80% of my jokes work about 20% of the time. When I teach a class, if I haven't made them laugh at least once then I've failed.I know what it's like to suffer as a math student. Math was my hardest subject in high school and even made me cry sometimes. When I got to Calculus, though, everything came together and I came to see the beauty in mathematics. I continued this cycle of suffering followed by joyful understanding when I studied math in college and then grad school, and now that I'm finally out of academia, I can relax and share my experience with others. When I engage in an hour of private tutoring I tend to go over-time by around fifteen minutes if I need to do so to wrap up whatever we were working on. Teaching is a passion, a calling, and a compulsion for me.

Hello, my name is Aaron. I am a seasoned and formally trained tutor who is always eager to assist individuals in their efforts to work hard and deliver the best version of themselves to the world. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in both undergraduate and; graduate studies, in psychology and counseling respectively. These subjects help me better understand the mentalities of the students I work with, while helping to assist them through any road blocks they may encounter with creative and thoughtful responses.I aim to offer unique insight to my students, having worked in fields that involve teaching various skills to individuals who have great difficulty learning. After completing my undergraduate degree, I worked with developmentally disabled individuals, teaching life and academic skills. This job had the challenges of the typical teaching setting paired with the barriers that stem from the clients' potential disabilities. During my internship for my Master's in counseling, I performed similar work with individuals struggling with effects of traumatic brain injuries. During that time, I helped those suffering from their injuries cope with emotional distress while reteaching them skills that were lost due to their brain injury.I am very open to learning new concepts and developing new interests. I enjoy being able to connect those interests to the people with whom I am with working to enhance the study process. My general passions include films, music, games, theatre, and technology.I have full confidence in my abilities to assist any student or child needing my services. I am 22 years old, and am a May 2022 alumnus of Case Western Reserve University with a BS degree in physics. I am currently working toward obtaining a PhD in physics. I have a passion for understanding the laws of nature, and for helping interested students do the same. I have experience tutoring math and physics at the high school and college level. I particularly enjoy teaching AP/college level mechanics and electricity & magnetism material due to its fundamental importance in so many real world applications. I am a patient tutor who adapts his teaching to the strengths of the student, and who understands that fostering an ability to verbally articulate understanding of a concept is sometimes better than using a mathematical approach.
