I hold a PhD in European History from the University of Chicago. I have taught at the university level and in continuing education settings since I received my degree in 1995. Students in my courses learn how to engage with material, how to analyze large bodies of information and draw conclusions, how to think critically about information and ideas, and how to organize and prioritized information. I also emphasize writing skills for students. Every class I have ever taught has completed a writing assignment. As a talented writer myself, I have the skills to work with students to improve their writing abilities. I work with them on style and content. I am very familiar with MLA and Chicago styles. I teach my students how to formulate a thesis, or an argument; how to use evidence to test that argument; how to perform analysis on that evidence; how to draw conclusions from that analysis; and how to present it all in an interesting and engaging manner. Students in my classes experience success in other classes and in their education. A significant number have gone on to pursue graduate study, including at Ivy League schools, while others have pursued successful career paths in various professions. I am a gifted teacher who is able to connect with students and assist them in their studies.

My students are some of the brightest and hardest working kids I know and I truly enjoy going into work each day.I grew up in Rochester, New York. Some of my interests include listening to music, playing/watching football and basketball with friends (Go Bills and Bulls!), and spending time with my friends and family.

I am a graduate of Grand Canyon University with a Masters in Education. I have lived out of the country in Venezuela, Costa Rica, Panama, and India and traveled to many other countries as well. I studied Spanish throughout High School and Hindi while I lived in India. I love to learn and teach about other cultures and also English as a Second Language. I believe that when I am passionate about what I am teaching, the student will also be passionate about learning. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family (I have a husband and two adult daughters) as well as traveling and reading.

I am a current civil engineering student at City College focusing on environmental engineering. I am a hard working and patient tutor who works with students from elementary to high school. I tutor all english related subjects as well as algebra 1. I have previous experience working at Khan's Tutorial as well as Child Center of NY.

I'm a sophomore at Cornell University expecting to major in Government with minors in English, Inequality Studies, and Policy Analysis and Management. I'm interested in education policy and am excited to work as a tutor to help other students in the subjects I know well and to learn more about how private educational organizations can influence learning. I tutor in a wide variety of subjects, but I find SAT prep incredibly rewarding and love to help with English writing or reading.

We are all born with a natural curiosity, and my goal as a tutor is to engage students so that they are motivated by that curiosity. I want students to learn through their own individual styles, and my approach to english, writing, and literature is to encourage questions and critical thought. That way students can improve both their writing and reading skills, all while becoming creative and analytical thinkers.

A small-town girl from Connecticut, I attended the University of Rhode Island, where I achieved my Bachelor's degree in Writing and Rhetoric, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Writing has always been a passion of mine, and although it is not for everyone, I believe that passion is contagious.I first began tutoring in my college's Writing Center during my senior year, helping students of all ages improve all different aspects of their writing. As I loved tutoring others so much, I began to tutor professionally, working with students from kindergarten to graduate school. Writing, Reading, Grammar and Elementary Math are the cornerstones of a solid education, an education that leads our upcoming generations to success.In my freetime, my husband and I enjoy spending time with our dogs, exploring the city of Boston, traveling New England and spending time outdoors. As an experienced actress, my favorite subject to teach is English/Language Arts as I am an expressive person, and I enjoy writing.When I am not teaching, you will either find me viewing a new movie, taking a road trip, or baking special treats for my loved ones.
