College English Tutor • +35 Subjects
Hello there! My name is Rebecca. I'm 23 years old and I attended Temple University where I received my Bachelor's degree in French Language and a writing certificate specializing in creative writing. If you think about it, most people go to school for about 17 years of their life. It's nearly impossible for one student to master each and every subject they are taught while in school, and I have a clear understanding of that. I strongly believe that everyone learns differently, so it's crucial for a tutor to be adaptable and to be able to approach a subject with many angles. I also think that patience is key - everyone learns at a different pace. I also want to be as helpful and effective as possible. We only have an hour which tends to go by quickly, so let's take advantage of it! I want to end our session with a smile on your face and a confident feeling that you know and understand the material.

Two things that I am passionate about are writing and teaching. I have worked with children at the point of learning letters and making their first words and every level through undergraduate research papers. I have no favorite group as everyone I work with, whether one-on-one or in a group or class, are my favorite at the time. I get a thrill when frustrated faces turn into smiles and even surprise when they see what they can do. I believe we all have an "inner writer" just waiting come be brought out and I want to be the ideas Pied Piper to help call them out. I have worked as a teacher in public schools, charter schools and a Montessori school. I have worked with adults in both professional settings and personally to help them learn to formulate their thoughts and dress them up in the best writing possible. As the CEO and business owner of Evangelison Productions, I have mentored emerging writers who feel ready to publish their work and help them with not only their writing, but illustrations and even marketing. I even served as a Judge of the ACT-SO program sponsored by the NAACP in poetry, script writing, and composition. I like to not only encourage writers, but to help them learn now to edit and improve their presentations, to help put their best writer's voice in the best wrapping. Teaching writers to edit their work can be just as challenging as teaching the writing itself. The mechanics of the language are a necessary part of work, but even more important is helping writers see the wealth of ideas just waiting to be brought out. Nothing quite calls to me the same way a blank sheet of paper and an ink pen does and I continue everyday to improve my own writing in every area I can. From poetry to lyrics to blogs, technical writing to short stories, children's books to motivational and inspirational pieces, I have let my writing continue to serve an important place in my life. I would like very much to work with anyone who wants or needs assistance in writing, not just because it is great, but because we live in a literate society and writing is essential! If you think you need help with writing, or you are a parent who is interested in finding a tutor for your child, you could not find a more interested partner! Let's take this journey together... the sky is the limit!

Hi! I received a BA in history from Brandeis University and an MS from Columbia in Nutrition. I love reading and studying history, but my true passion is medicine. I currently work as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and am in the process of applying to medical school.I first started tutoring fellow students in high school. In college I helped fifth graders at the local public school after school with their homework. I have experience with a broad age range and I enjoy the differences in approach that each student demands. I believe that a tutor must have patience. This allows students to work at their own pace as they find the approach that works for them.In my free time I love reading historical fiction novels, watching TV (especially baseball), taking my dog to the dog park, playing basketball.

I'm a senior working towards B.S. in Biology, secondary major in Spanish, and minors in chemistry and bioethics at Case Western Reserve University. I'm originally from Naperville, IL, and attended Neuqua Valley and IMSA. I have several years of tutoring experience with high school students in biology, chemistry, and writing, as well as teaching experience with nursing and pre-medical college students, teaching biology and chemistry as a Supplemental Instruction Leader and Teaching Assistant. The subjects I tutor are the subjects I love; biology, chemistry, Spanish, and the LSAT. My approach to tutoring is to ensure the student is able to dynamically problem-solve by and for themselves and walks away with a deeper understanding of not just the "what" of the material but the "why". I believe it's important to understand the student's goals in the wider context of what the course or exam will ask of them, and tailor my approach to their individual learning style and needs. Resources I typically use include worksheets I create with conceptual and factual problems for the student to work through, building from small concepts like definitions up towards more challenging problems to check their understanding requiring synthesis and application of several concepts.

I love learning new stuff! Although this is a simplistic statement this idea is at the heart of why I chose to become an educator. Every time I have the privilege of leading instruction either virtually or on-ground, I learn something new. The opportunity to pass that feeling on to students is why I am excited to have the opportunity to work with Varsity Tutors. My experience teaching college and high school students from various age groups, backgrounds, and different skill levels has perfectly prepared me to be help students further their understanding in the area of English literature and composition.Since moving to Las Vegas from Michigan I have been teaching for Clark County School District and the College of Southern Nevada. I look forward to tutoring and helping all students fulfill their educational endeavors. Thanks

Teaching is my favorite part time activity. I am an experienced teacher with relevant skill in educating, guiding, mentoring students in undergraduate, graduate and financial certification courses. I have been mentoring High School and college level students for many years now. I have a special knack towards this activity because of its inherent challenge. One cannot outshine as a good tutor unless one is an effective communicator and presents every thought in a simple understandable manner. This is precisely the niche that gives me an edge over others. I have always handled complex and challenging tasks systematically and have adapted myself to their needs achieving outstanding performance at the end. I believe learning is fun and make the whole process as interactive and straightforward as possible so that at the end of the day, the students can grasp the concepts without going through a rigorous stress. I am always available for any course related questions outside the class. Aside from having experience in proactively leading many classes, online sessions, training and presentations, I possess an excellent knowledge, which is reflected in my overall GMAT (740 out of 800) and TOEFL IBT (114 out of 120) score. I have attended the prestigious KTDP program of the prestigious KAPLAN institution. I have been involved in tutoring assignments with Manhattan Elite Prep for the past 7+ years. With more than 10 years of work experience in the financial services industry, I can bring to students the correlation between theoretical knowledge and the practical know-how.
