Giving students an individualized and interactive learning experience is very important to me. It is one thing to learn a subject in the rigid way offered by a classroom or textbook. It is another thing entirely to have someone there by your side who adapts your path to address your needs in the most efficient and fun way possible. That's the approach I take with my students.I create a welcoming learning environment that fosters critical thinking, confidence, problem-solving skills, and fuller conceptual understanding, no matter what grade level or subject my students want to learn. Students of all ages will find success much easier and more enjoyable by working with me.I love learning how people gain both emotional and traditional intelligence. I know what oft-overlooked techniques catapult people to success. I know what trips people up in attempts to outgrow their current skill set, both emotionally and intellectually. Plus, I am continually expanding my knowledge of these and other aspects of the process to becoming the best person one can become in life.My expertise in the principles of success informs everything I do as a tutor. For instance, I take care to address both intellectual concerns and the resultant emotional strain that often comes along with them. I help my students feel not only more comfortable with the subject matter, but also more comfortable with themselves.Students who work with me grow in confidence, understanding, capabilities, happiness, and ownership of their success.

I am passionate about helping students because I believe I have an obligation to spread the wisdom I have to aid those in need. This is my first time truthfully tutoring a student one on one. But a friend of mine is a tutor and I had the opportunity to observe how sessions are conducted. I am currently a student attending Valencia College. I plan on going to the University of Central Florida to obtain my Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. The subjects that I tutor is middle school math such as Pre-Algebra and Algebra. I also tutor students in College Essays. My favorite subject to tutor is Math. Patience and proper guidance is really important in helping a student understand the subject that they are struggling in. I usually teach the student the subject and give a test to evaluate what the student is struggling on. Then me and the student wil work together until we reach our goal. I am interested in playing sports such as football, baseball and basketball. I also love to play the piano and deal with electronics.

Thank you for considering me as your tutor. I am an educator and former teacher. I have taught reading and math at the elementary level and middle school math. In addition, I have tutored in reading and coached speaking events. Most of my experience in education has been working with struggling learners. My favorite story to tell is about a student I met in middle school who was in a special education math class. She was very unsure of herself but after working with her for two years, she was able to transition into a general education math class with accommodations. She will be starting college this fall. Her story and many like it, are the reasons I strive to work with students.Math is my favorite subject to tutor because of it's progression from concrete to abstract concepts and real world connections. I use Socratic questioning to find points of confusion and assist students in clarifying those areas.I currently hold the following certifications: Special Education (Early Childhood-12th), Generalist (4-8), and Principal Certification and earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees at Texas State University.

I am a graduate of Wesleyan University who is now based in the New York Metropolitan Area. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Hispanic Literatures & Cultures and in History, with a focus on U.S. History and Latin American History. I also plan to pursue a doctorate in History. I have been teaching in various capacities for many years now, and have worked with students from Pre-K all the way to high school seniors. While I enjoy all subjects, I am most passionate about Spanish and History. I believe a nuanced understanding of diverse histories and languages, with an emphasis on those of the underrepresented, is an invaluable tool to which all students should have access. I hope to sow understanding and awareness in students of all backgrounds, to empower their voices, and to make learning fun!
