I'm a first-generation college graduate from a working-class family. My teachers were some of the most positive influences in my life, and I want to pass on their legacy by helping students succeed. I have three years of experience tutoring college chemistry, and one year tutoring statistics. I have a PhD in microbiology, and use statistical modeling in my research. Additionally, I have taught science majors and non-majors at ASU and MCC as an instructor and as a teaching assistant for four years. When I meet a new tutoring client, I start by asking about their goals, and determining their preferred learning styles in order to help customize their learning experience. I use a variety of established teaching strategies based on how the brain, memory, and human psychology work together to foster enjoyable and successful learning.
