I am a graduate of McGill University (BA First Class Honors) and the University of Edinburgh (MSc First Class Honors with Distinction) with over eight years of tutoring experience. I am a rising sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in International Relations and minoring in French and English. During my time at Loomis and Germantown, I taught English Lit I/III, Contemporary Literature, 10th grade grammar and expository writing seminars, Literature of the Sea, Experimental Novel, and Creative Writing. At Wash U, I taught Fiction Writing I, II, and Microfiction, and last year I facilitated pedagogy training for Wash U MFA graduate students. I currently tutor at DU's Writing Center and, beginning this fall, I will teach undergraduate fiction classes. I have a marked interest in modern and contemporary fiction, though I very much look forward to helping students with all craft/literature/essay writing/verbal test taking endeavors.

I am about to graduate from Brown University with a B.A. in Education Studies. I love working with students one-on-one and helping them feel like they can tackle challenging material. In the past I have tutored elementary school students in English and Math, middle school students in English as a second language, and helped peers in an informal context. The admissions process is probably one of the most confusing, anxiety-inducing experiences you'll have in high school, but I'm full of ideas for making the entire process as successful and stress-free as possible. I've successfully guided many students through every stage of admissions -- from figuring out where to apply and then staying organized and on-track, to "packaging" themselves and producing a perfect personal statement -- and I love witnessing them achieve their admissions dreams.

I am currently a sophomore at Yale University working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. I began tutoring in high school at local elementary schools and continued tutoring into my college career with older students. I am capable of tutoring subjects ranging from Algebra and Calculus to Economics, standardized tests, Statistics, and more. Tutoring is something I enjoy because I love helping students achieve their goals and maximize their potential through practice and hard work. I'm a firm believer that the best way to improve in any area of academics is through practice. I am a fourth year student at Harvard Medical School, and will start working as a pediatrician in July of 2016. However, if I had not decided to become a physician, I would have strongly considered becoming a teacher. Teaching is one of the most enjoyable activities I do, and I have taught in some capacity every year for the past ten years. I have taught subjects ranging from English to algebra, from physics to dance, and have taught students ranging in age from toddlers to adults. I have also provided advice on application essays, resumes, and interview strategies for Harvard College students applying to highly competitive scholarships. Each of these experiences has taught me how to communicate concepts in clear and engaging ways. For instance, while tutoring adolescents enrolled in the Boston-based Artists for Humanity program, I would often teach students whom I had never worked with before, and thus became adept at quickly discovering and implementing the strategies that worked best for a particular student (e.g., visual/tactile examples, analogies, and breaking down complex problems into smaller parts). While tutoring a janitorial staff member in preparation for the mathematics portion of her GED high school equivalency exam, I learned how to quickly identify the highest yield topics for a standardized exam and focus our efforts on those. Each of these experiences has been incredibly rewarding, and has inspired me to teach in some capacity throughout my career as a doctor.

I am able to tutor in a variety of subjects from middle school all the way up to introductory college courses. I especially enjoy helping students with math or English coursework. I'm an international Affairs major at Princeton University minoring in Creative Writing and Chinese. I graduated from The Brearley School in New York City in 2011. I am a patient teacher who can explain problems in many different ways according to how individual students learn best. I only ask that you know and explain to me what topics you do not know or get so far. I know that every student can learn a subject with a combination of practice and patience, but I insist upon consistent effort and sessions. As an educator I do not support last minute cramming as the primary learning method of content for students as it does not lead to retention of material, mastery of larger themes, or the ability to differentiate between subtle differences when problem-solving on tests and exams. I will help my clients when they need extra sessions before Final Exams and AP Exams, but those who have been working the hardest throughout the school year to regularly improve will get preference over those students who are panicked at the last minute, but have put off meeting with me.

I am a rising Junior at Princeton University who is passionate about the ways in which people learn, which has led me to pursue a degree in Neuropsychology. Through great experiences teaching English in Chiangmai, Thailand for two months and tutoring Calculus I and II through Princeton University's McGraw Tutoring program for two years, I have come across many learning styles and have developed a love for teaching.
