I am a graduate of the University of Chicago, with a bachelor's degree in psychology and linguistics. Currently, I am pursuing a master's degree in speech-language pathology at Teachers College, Columbia University. In the past, I have worked as a teacher's aide in a public school classroom, a mentor to middle school girls, an instructor and tutor at the literacy education organization 826, and a summer camp counselor. I tutor a diverse range of subjects, and I find that I especially enjoy tutoring language arts, reading, and writing at all levels, from elementary school all the way up to college/grad school test prep. As a tutor, I am committed to helping students reach their full potential as learners. Throughout my years as an educator, I have seen firsthand the remarkable academic growth that can occur when tutors provide students with the individualized support that they need. After graduation, I worked for a full-service learning center where I created and implemented high school lesson plans for home-schooled students, provided academic support for students ranging in ages from 8 to 20 years old, and taught group and individual standardized testing preparation classes. I'm Ellie, and I am a junior at Yale University studying Biomedical Engineering (pre-med)! I have always considered myself a life-long student, and I strive to make learning exciting and empowering for everyone. On campus, I work as a graphic designer for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), volunteer EMT, am the Arts Editor for the Yale Scientific Magazine, am the Layout Editor for the Yale Globalist Magazine, conduct autism research in the School of Medicine, and tutor a Differential Equations course to small groups of students weekly. I have years of experience tutoring and teaching math and various sciences from an elementary to a college level. I am a current student at Princeton University, obtaining a major in English with minors in Environmental Studies and Musical Theater. I graduated from Sewickley Academy in 2016 as a member of the Cum Laude Society with highest honors for all semesters. I am an AP Scholar with Honors, an Academic All American, and a recipient of the Harvard Book Award. When on breaks from school, I take care of children ages 5-11 and teach them reading, writing, and mathematics. Though I enjoy teaching a wide range of subjects, I am most passionate about English. I have the most fun teaching students reading, writing, and grammar for test preparation and general school help. I believe that the ability to read and write proficiently is a foundation for a well-rounded individual and allows the student to have the best chances in any academic or employment field they may pursue. To be able to express oneself eloquently and concisely is essential for academic and personal success. This does not come without skill in logical mathematic thinking, however. I firmly believe that anyone can succeed no matter where they are in the educative process as long as they have the tools and strategies for efficient learning. The best advise any teacher gave me was "study smarter, not harder". There are strategies that take time to learn, but once mastered, studying and preparing for any academic venture become much easier. In my free time, I enjoy participating in musical theater, golfing, reading, and yoga.

I am a firm believer that all students learn differently and identifying how each student best learns is essential to his/her academic success. Therefore, as a tutor, I aim to specifically tailor my teaching style to each student in order to help them maximize their potential. Outside of academics, I enjoy exercising, playing basketball, cooking, and attending concerts and other live performances in the Philadelphia area.

I am a rising third-year student at Trinity College Dublin, and I am working towards a degree in English Literature. I have a lot of practical test-taking and study skills to offer, particularly in high school and middle school academics and standardized testing! I also consider myself a well-rounded student, so though my passion lies in English and writing, I love to teach math, science, and history subjects as well!

I'm a junior at MIT pursuing a B.S. in Computational Neuroscience, and a B.S. in Philosophy. Starting in high school, I have served in a multitude of teaching/tutoring roles, including: tutoring all levels of high school math (from pre-algebra to AP Calculus BC); teaching a six-week class on psychology to underserved high school students in the Boston area; teaching chemistry, biology, and computer science at a STEM summer camp to 6th-9th graders; working as a TA in a college-level philosophy seminar; and even teaching choreo for a hip-hop dance workshop series! And, though my teaching experience centers largely around STEM subjects, I also have a deep love for history, English, and philosophy, and am excited to work with students in these areas as well. In general, I have an intense passion for learning anything and everything, and my top goal when working with any student is to ignite their own curiosity, and awaken their inner desire to understand themselves and the world.
