I am an experienced and well-qualified essay coach, and a tutor in language arts and German. I also tutor students who are preparing for the SAT. I earned my B.A. in Comparative Literature from Columbia University and an M.A. in German from UC Berkeley, where I taught college German and received training in foreign language pedagogy. I love to learn, I am drawn to travel, and the experiences I have had enrich my work as a tutor. I'm working towards my PhD in Marine Science at Stony Brook University (NY), doing research in the field of marine biogeochemistry. That's a bit of a mouthful, but basically it means I study the way living things interact with the chemistry of the ocean, and how that interaction gets recorded in mud and rock. Based on this expertise, I enjoy tutoring in general science, chemistry, and earth science.

I'm a junior at Yale University pursuing a double major in Linguistics and Theater. During my MA I worked as a teacher's assistant, learning teaching strategies from many distinguished professors. Students met with me one on one to discuss assignments, work on papers, and review for tests. During these years I had the opportunity to work with several ESL students and students with disabilities. Being deaf in my right ear gives me a unique perspective when working with students struggling with disabilities because I have fought those battles myself, albeit to a smaller degree than some. I firmly believe that disabilities should never stand in the way of learning.

I'm New York City born and raised. I graduated from the University of Chicago last year with a degree in East Asian Languages and Civilizations. I am developing my own teaching methods to evolve traditional East Asian and French language acquisition, and to do this I need even more experience. My course of study has been directed at learning as much as I can about the culture, economy, and history of East Asia, China and Japan in particular. I view myself as someone who is entrepreneurial, collegial, individually motivated to produce high quality work, as well as foster a love of the subject which I teach. I am currently a Master's in Education Candidate at Northwestern University, and will begin teaching high school biology in Chicago this upcoming fall. I completed my undergraduate degree at Northwestern University in 2019, majoring in both Biological Sciences (concentrating in Genetics and Genomics) and in German. I've also been a speaker at state and national seminars and I have co-authored 2 instruction manuals on various aspects of real estate. I've never met a microphone I didn't like! My 33 years in real estate include title insurance and mortgage experience, and I've been a licensed Michigan Realtor since 2012.

I'm a recent Cornell graduate who is passion about personalized education. I studied English and Film, with a lot of everything else thrown in!

I am a friendly recent college graduate who likes to make learning fun. When tutoring, I look for ways to relate the material to one of your child's interests, to better ensure he/she retains the material. Part of my method includes instructing students on how to properly study. For example, I advise them on how to make comprehensive study reviews, a schedule, and note cards. I'm Rachel. I have a pretty relaxed teaching style and adapt well to all kinds of students. I really aim for students to understand concepts rather than make great test scores. However, great test scores are a good side effect of understanding concepts better.
