Physiology Tutoring review by Emily in Waltham, MA
We went over test taking strategies. I encouraged the student to ignore the multiple choice answers, and to focus on the questions first before answering. It went well.

Physiology Tutoring review by Phillip in Waltham, MA
In this session, we covered the drawing of Lewis structures and how Lewis structures are similar within periodic table groups. We also continued covering dimensional analysis and how to construct conversion factors from equalities, focusing on techniques for analyzing work problems requiring dimensional analysis. We lastly reviewed naming and formula writing for both ionic and covalent compounds. I advised him on how to most effectively use his textbook to enhance his studies and left him with a list of practice problems for each of the units his class has completed throughout the year.

Physiology Tutoring review by Claire in Waltham, MA
The student and I spent the first 30 minutes going through chemistry. It was clear she has an excellent understanding of equilibriums and solubility, and how to apply those concepts to calculation problems. We then moved on the math, specifically going over matrixes. She felt very confident when working through the problems. We also spent time graphing the multiple inequalities and I showed her some short cuts she could use to solve the problem faster.

Physiology Tutoring review by Travis in Waltham, MA
The student and I reviewed for his AP Chemistry exam, which will be next week. We used a review book in order to discuss some of the topics that were most challenging. Specifically, we covered equilibrium and aqueous solutions. We reviewed definitions for acids, bases, as well as conjugate acids and bases. We also performed several pH calculations by determining the hydronium or hydrogen ion concentration. Since part of the exam does not permit the use of a calculator, we reviewed some basic properties of exponents and logarithms. These will be important for calculating the pH using logarithm expressions. Also, we discussed some of the powers of ten, such as the square root of ten, because some problems expected students to have this memorized in order to simplify pH calculations. We also talked about determining the relative pH of solutions containing different salts, whether the salts were formed from strong or weak acids and bases.

Physiology Tutoring review by Mostafa in Waltham, MA
We covered concepts regarding the acids and bases chapter test: naming acids and bases, calculating pH and pOH, titration problems, and definitions of acids and bases. The student struggled at first with solving the problems involving pH and pOH, but after practice she showed improvement.

Physiology Tutoring review by Grace in Waltham, MA
I brought in a review worksheet covering what we did last time with dominance and Punnett squares. I then introduced the way that multiple genes are inherited and how one figures out the possibility of certain combinations. The student was eager to learn.
