I'm a graduate of Adelphi University, with a Bachelors of Science in Physics with a Minor in Philosophy! I tutor Physics, Calculus, and Algebra. As students, we thrive off of curiosity, creativity, guided intuition, and encouragement. As someone who was a student-athlete for over 10 years, my approach involves a creative team-based effort to overcome struggling points seemingly impassable alone. As someone who has struggled with math intensely during my time at university, the approach I use to help others overcome their math struggles are a result of direct experience and analysis of its effectiveness. The shy student does not learn, and the impatient teacher does not teach.

As a future MBA student myself, I will be tutoring my assigned subjects by creating a beneficial environment for the students and myself. I graduated from the university of Oklahoma with a BS in chemical engineering and also acquired a certificate in project management. I plan on pursuing an MBA in the near future. During my junior and sophomore years in college, I tutored algebra, pre-calculus and biology at the freshman level. This, I believe, will enable me to prepare SAT/ACT students and freshman students for their necessary exams effectively.

I believe that learning is a lifelong process and I feel fortunate to have been involved in the education of countless students over the past thirteen years. I began tutoring my peers in middle school after my parents pointed out that it would help reinforce my own knowledge. In preparation for the SATs, I attended a private test prep center where I learned specialized strategies for standardized tests. After receiving a perfect score of 800 on the math section of my SATs, I was invited to begin working at a private test prep company. My age and affable nature helped foster the relationship between younger, unruly students and their adult instructors.I received my Bachelor of Science in Physics from Florida Atlantic University and began tutoring college students, many of whom were returning to their education after taking time off. My most frequently tutored subjects include Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus), Physics, Chemistry, and standardized test prep (SAT, ACT, and GRE). My favorite subject to tutor would be Physics because of the multitude of ways that concepts can be used to intrigue students' curiosities, stimulate their creativity, or sometimes simply leave them in awe of the world in which they live. Additionally, the useful applications of Algebra and Geometry create opportunities to engage students by highlighting their practical value.I am fascinated by the different learning styles and how I can adapt my tutoring method to a student's specific strengths and weaknesses. When I begin with a new student, I focus on flexibility as we become accustomed to one another. As time progresses and we enact a personalized lesson plan, my expectations increase accordingly as does each student's accountability. I strongly believe that it behooves all learners to employ a useful toolkit of reasoning and comprehension skills. In addition to teaching the material for examinations, I devote a small fraction of our time to developing these abilities that will foster learning in many areas. During my free time, I enjoy traveling with my family to experience other cultures. My other hobbies include reading, playing chess, and building computers.

My purpose is to serve the youth and promote youth development. As an Eagle Scout, my early commitment to service afforded me several key opportunities to serve in administrative, leadership preparatory positions. At Morehouse College, I served as a Bonner Community Service Scholar, where I primarily served as a tutor and mentor to middle and high school students through a West Atlanta youth empowerment organization, Raising Expectations. In addition to boosting the students mathematical performance on the CRCT and EOCT, I gained valuable recruitment experience while presenting to and recruiting volunteers from the metro Atlanta colleges and universities. While studying mathematics at Morehouse College, I conducted undergraduate research for two years. I was able to form statistical correlations between ten socioeconomic factors and air pollutant concentrations. During this experience, I was also able to develop an index to determine the most ecologically sustainable colleges in the metro Atlanta area. I gained professional presentation experience introducing my findings at various research conferences throughout the Southeast region.During the 2011/2012 school term, as an AmeriCorps service member at Georgia State University, I demonstrated on a daily basis my ability to teach, tutor, and mentor middle and high school level mathematics students. Additionally, I created community service projects for a local Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) project. In preparation for the GYSD, I was responsible for collaborating with several non-profit organizations in order to recruit volunteers, install free energy-efficient light bulbs in West Atlanta residences, as well as plant trees and establish a teachers' lounge at Woodson Elementary School. This summer, our AmeriCorps program developed DREAMS Summer Institute, a culturally relevant summer enrichment program for disadvantaged high school students, at Georgia State University. I was responsible for developing a teaching model in accordance to the GA Performance Standards and was instrumental in recruiting students in preparation for the program in addition to teaching all mathematics courses for the program."There is no progress without struggle."- Frederick Douglass. I understand struggle. In spite of my early struggles in mathematics, I have gone on to earn a BS in Mathematics, with a minor in Physics. I mold my instruction behind that of my high school Calculus teacher. His approach was rooted in the following question: "What does this have to do with what I already know?" This approach helps me lead my students to probe their minds for their current mathematical tools. It is then my job to help them bridge the gap of knowledge and application to help them reach new knowledge and understanding. Assess, Review, Challenge, Review, Repeat. This is my method for success.

Hey there! My name is Nathaniel, and I graduated from UT Austin in 2016 with degrees in Biochemistry and Psychology. I've had over 8 years of tutoring experience in different areas, primarily in mathematics and the natural sciences. I began tutoring my mom's friend's children in algebra 1, algebra 2, and geometry while still in middle school. This is the point at which I realized the reward in helping others learn, inciting my passion for tutoring. I went on to continue assisting classmates in high school, ultimately tutoring around a dozen different students while in college. In fact, I even served as a teaching assistant my junior year, helping grade assignments. In my free time, I like to play sports, lift weights, and volunteer. I ultimately plan on attending medical school, aiming for admission in 2018. I'm open to many different physician specialties, but have found psychiatry, neurosurgery, and orthopedics the most interesting so far. Other fun facts about me are that I've been skydiving 25 times (certified), biked from Austin, Texas to Anchorage Alaska to raise money and awareness for cancer research as part of the UT organization Texas 4000, and worked at a haunted house this past October. My teaching approach is different from others in that I do not wish to instruct students as if they were in a class, but by putting it in terms that would resonate most with them. Thus, I strive to not only further your children's insight in a given subject area, but to also allow them to actually appreciate different subjects and how they relate to the world around them. I look forward to working with your child, and will hopefully hear from you soon!

I have just finished up my Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. I also attended Carnegie Mellon for my undergrad where I received an B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with an additional major in Engineering and Public Policy.I love helping others break down concepts that seem impossible at first. As a past teaching assistant, I have had the chance to work with students and provide guidance and mentorship to help them complete the final class in their programs.I tutor math at all levels as well as engineering and college preparation. I like to provide examples for students and then work through the problems in homework to make sure that we fully understand the concepts we are working on. I hope to make learning fun and engaging rather than another regular class. In my free time, I like to read (always looking for suggestions), bake, and workout. I approach all of these things the same way I approach teaching and try to make it a fun way to learn new skills.
