Hello,My name is Tyler and I am excited to be working with Varsity Tutors. I currently teach middle and high school social studies at Bishop Dunne Catholic School in Dallas. I teach 8th Grade US History, Spanish 3, AP Microeconomics, and Economics. I also have experience tutoring middle school Math while in college.I am originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and still have family there. I very much enjoy spending time with them when I am able to return home. I am also an avid sports fan and follow my teams passionately. In my free time, I love attending sporting events and spending time with friends and family. I am particularly fond of a good cup of coffee and conversation.

I am currently a student at Stanford University studying math and political science. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience with younger students. I have helped students of different ages and from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, and so I am very conscious of the needs and prior knowledge my students and tailor my tutoring method and style individually.I tutor students in a wide range of subjects. In subjects related to reading and writing, I focus first on the students comprehension of the material at hand and then help the student construct an analytical argument. In subjects related to math, I review the foundational concepts in a certain topic before proceeding to assist the student with specific example problems. I always make sure to make my lessons enjoyable and relatable, so that the students attention remain on the subject matter.I am also very knowledgeable about standardized tests, particularly the ACT and many of the SAT subject tests, and so I am always excited to help students reach their full potential on these tests.

A recent graduate with a degree Mathematics, Monica is passionate about technology, the environment, LGBT rights, and education (particularly for under represented populations). She is at her core, a problem solver: in her math classes, in leading her teammates, and in creating positive change within her surrounding community. Her greatest fear is being stagnant at a place where she is not learning or creating. Her core values are grit, integrity, and compassion. Currently her mission statement reads: "to live life intentionally, completely, and compassionately by staying endlessly curious and devoted to use her talents in such a way that she leaves any place better than when she entered it."

I am a dedicated tutor with years of experience. I provide support and guidance for students in many subjects and specialize in test preparation, teaching study skills, and ensuring a deep understanding of all material.My background includes a Graduate Degree in Environmental and Resource Economics with honors, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, with honors. I have tutored students at all levels of mathematics, prepared students for high school and college, and taught graduate level econometrics and statistics.

College has cultivated my sense for education and learning. Last spring, during my sophomore year at Pitzer College, I declared a double major in mathematics and biophysics. I am taking this year off of college, and wish to share what I have learned with others.

Hi! I'm an engineering student from Georgia Tech, and I love to teach. In high school, I participated in numerous math competitions such as AMC/AIME and ARML and led my schools math team for 2 years.My style of teaching involves prioritizing intuition and understanding over memorization. It's imperative for you to know WHY something is important over how to do it. I also will often teach the same concept in different ways depending on how you like to learn best.My goal as an instructor is to get to know you as a person before I jump in with formulas, equations, and definitions.In addition to math, I also like to teach physics, test prep, and video/audio editing.

After graduating with a BA in English from the University of Dallas and a Master of Arts from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, I went on to teach classes of 6-11th grade students at Trivium Preparatory Academy for 3 years in English, Writing, and Math. I also tutored students individually for all sections of the SAT and ACT during my time there, and I have continued to do so for the past year with Varsity Tutors. I love teaching English and Literature because I have a passion for storytelling, and I enjoy teaching Math and Grammar because of their rational nature and the enjoyment that comes from solving logic puzzles. When I am not teaching, I enjoy going to the movies, spending time with my five younger brothers and sisters, and volunteering within MENSA. I believe that learning can always be made fun and is extremely rewarding when you put in the work. Ashley is a patient, engaging, and experienced test preparation tutor. She has taught ISEE, SAT, ACT, and AP Biology for 4 years at a professional test preparation company in Houston, TX. She is currently a medical student at Baylor College of Medicine. She is very patient with her students and she believes it is so important for young developing students to continue getting education especially during these times.
