Hi, my name is Evan Oberstein and I am a recent graduate from Oxford University with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Statistics. I have had a lifelong interest in math, which I was able to further develop with extra-curricular enrichment. One of the largest advantages of private tutoring is the increased engagement and attention between the student and material. I believe that fostering a love of mathematics is possible in any student and would be thrilled to help students both improve and become more excited about the subject. I was diagnosed with executive functioning issues while a high-school student, but was able to develop new study skills and continue further in my education, and I can help you do the same.

I earned a Master's Degree in Mathematics from the University of Houston, as well as a Bachelor's Degree from Morgan State University, located in Baltimore Maryland. I majored in Math because, after trying out a few other majors, I realized it was the one subject that came easiest to me, and actually found fun. Even as a kid, I've always enjoyed solving puzzles and games. So, learning math was a way to apply my problem-solving talent and my love of logic.I'd say, I first realized I also had a passion for TEACHING math during my experience as a graduate teaching assistant. Thus, after finishing college, I'd often teach math as an adjunct professor. Eventually, I decided to go all in, and I taught math at a high school in Washington D.C. for a couple of years. I followed that up by teaching at a community college in the D.C. area for over a year. After that, I moved from D.C. to the Dallas Fort-Worth area (where I still reside), and took a short break from teaching. But the teaching bug wouldn't go away. So, in 2010, I returned to the academic world, and I obtained a full-time Math Instructor position at Tarrant County College here in DFW, and worked there for 10 years, where I grew both personally and professionally. One of my strengths is my communication skills, and over the years I worked hard to hone many of my explanations, to make them as clear and concise as I think I can. Some of the compliments that I've received from students I taught and tutored is that I'm patient, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic.

I am currently in college working towards my Bachelor's Degree in Economics. Learning doesn't stop the moment you leave the classroom or even the moment you graduate from school. Outside of tutoring I enjoy playing video games (you can learn many things from different ones), Math, Biology, interacting with animals, and taking outside walks. One of the reasons I like Math is because it involves a lot of creativity and reasoning, which are both crucial in not only succeed in life, but help us understand who we are.Knowledge and Education go hand-in-hand, and when both are used together, you have the power to change the world positively and help others realize their potential as well. No child's circumstance ever limits their potential!

I have always loved school and learning! I've been tutoring since I was 12 and spent a lot of time in middle and high school tutoring or helping with test prep! I've also spent a good amount of time working with special needs students (of all abilities) with speech, as well as music therapy! I've tutored in Math, Sciences, Music, Music Theory, Piano, Voice, and SAT prep! I do have experience in other tutoring areas as well. I strongly believe in tailoring every lesson/plan to each individual student, since every person is different, we all learn differently! My goal is to take the stress out of it and help my students love learning and see just how much they can do.
