I graduated from Ohio University with two Bachelor of Arts degrees: German and Linguistics. I also obtained a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Certificate and completed a semester-long practicum working with adult ESL/ELL students while also holding an internship at a local elementary school working with ELL kindergarten and first-grade students. Most recently, I spent seven months living in Germany and interning as a Fulbright English teaching assistant in a middle school and high school. I love working with students who are passionate about learning languages. My passion and knowledge for German has helped me to study and pursue the language for over 10 years, and I love sharing the nuances of German with others. Even though English is my native language, I have a deep understanding of it, which helps to navigate tutoring English as a second language and aid a wide variety of ESL/ELL students.

How could you say your own language is the most beautiful of all if you cannot compare it?Learning a foreign language and getting to know an entirely new culture always fascinated me and it has also made me a more open minded person. I studied French in Paris while teaching German. I have a degree in romance languages, linguistics and art history from the University of Heidelberg. I took a detour from the academic world by exploring the language of media, marketing and public relations in the Black Forest and Bavaria. In Los Angeles I was immersed in the unique tongue of the entertainment industry. I continued teaching German and, along the way, became a Certified Life Coach. This has allowed me to connect to the language of peoples souls. In the beautiful mountains of New Mexico I became a writer and published a book in Germany. Everyone has different reasons for learning a language. Of course it is not easy. It takes time and effort but it is well worth it. I would enjoy introducing you to the German culture, as well as the language, in order to make your learning experience fun, effective and most importantly, successful.

I am a teacher because I have a passion for guiding students through the learning process, in addition to a passion for the material I present. It is my job to create an atmosphere that fosters learning. There are many different learning styles, and it is important as a teacher to recognize the learning style of each student. I encourage learning by creating a relaxed environment for students. My students also will realize that I am a life-long learner myself. I am always researching new teaching methods, in order to keep my students interested.

Servus! Ciao! Languages have been my passion my entire life. Since teaching myself German at the age of 10, I have since gone on master the language of Goethe and Schiller, as well as achieve a high level of knowledge of Italian. I spent time in Dresden, attended a Realgymnasium for a year in Vienna, Austria and most recently worked on fellowship for five months in the German Bundestag. There I conducted research for my parliamentarian, Dagmar Freitag, and interpreted at official functions. Italian I have been learning since since 2008 and now speak at a proficient level.During this process, I have also enjoyed teaching German and Italian at summer immersion camps, and on a one-on-one basis with middle school, high school and college students. I look forward to meeting you and helping you on your way to achieving your goals in your language learning! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

I am a graduate of Northwestern University, where I received my Bachelor's degrees in Voice Performance and Language Studies, and I recently finished my Master's degree at the University of Maryland, College Park. My studies have focused on music, reading, writing, foreign languages, and translation theory. I am a passionate learner and teacher, finding mentorship to be extremely rewarding and seeking out opportunities to help individual students learn, develop confidence, and grow. As an Advisor at Northwestern University's Office of Undergraduate Research, I tutored over 100 students of diverse disciplines per year, working with them privately on their writing and their research ideas. My students' growth was undeniable, as the office saw a huge jump in successful grant applications and nearly tripled its number of successful applications in both the humanities and arts areas (whose students were almost entirely assigned to me). I have also co-taught Northwestern University classes through this office. As a private music/performance teacher, I have taught voice and piano as well as tutoring in the areas of music theory/history and even public speaking. Having spent a cumulative six years working in collegiate admissions, I am an excellent resource in the areas of test prep and college counseling, and I am extremely passionate about preparing students for their college journeys. While my tutoring focuses on reading, writing, college counseling, and music, I truly enjoy teaching a wide variety of subjects and age groups, ranging from elementary math to foreign language (as a native speaker, French is particularly fun for me, though I also speak German and Italian) and even to test prep. I believe that a successful tutor must be dependable, encouraging, prepared, and adaptable to the needs of individual students; I work hard to bring these traits to my own lessons. When not teaching, I enjoy singing opera, reading poetry, hiking, and cheering on the Wildcats during football season!

I'm a doctoral candidate at Princeton University in the German department, where I've taught German language, literature and philosophy since 2008 and regularly received the highest scores for student satisfaction on my teaching evaluations. I majored in Biology and German as an undergraduate at the University of Michigan. I believe it is a teacher or tutor's responsibility to determine a student's individual learning style and tailor her lessons accordingly. I do a brief interview with each client to ascertain whether he or she is a visual, auditory or combination learner and teach with these results in mind. I look forward to working with you to achieve your academic goals!

In 2013 I graduated from Houston Baptist University with my Bachelor of Arts in English and Biblical Languages. I minored in Latin and received the outstanding student award in English. After my BA, I moved from Houston to Boston with my husband. In 2015 I earned my MA in Classical Studies from the University of Massachusetts in Boston, focusing on Greek and Latin literature. I am currently working on my PhD in English Literature at Southern Methodist University. I specialize in the intersection between ancient texts and Christianity as it is evident in Renaissance literature. During my MA I worked as a teacher's assistant, learning teaching strategies from many distinguished professors. Students met with me one on one to discuss assignments, work on papers, and review for tests. During these years I had the opportunity to work with several ESL students and students with disabilities. Being deaf in my right ear gives me a unique perspective when working with students struggling with disabilities because I have fought those battles myself, albeit to a smaller degree than some. I firmly believe that disabilities should never stand in the way of learning.I currently teach DISC writing courses at SMU and help students make sure that their writing is up to the collegiate level. I also work with an ESL program in the Frisco area. In this program, I help students of all levels in their journey to learn English.I love literature, and I hope to be able to share that joy with others. I am always happy to help students improve their writing and expand their vocabularies, regardless of the language. When it comes to test prep, my knowledge of Latin and Greek allows me to point out roots of words that will enable students to determine vocabulary definitions much faster. A good education provides a strong foundation for life, and I love helping others establish that firm ground from which they will continue to grow. I am always challenging myself by reading new books and articles.Throughout my life, I have studied Spanish, Latin, German, Hebrew, Greek, Old English, and Japanese. This strong background in foreign languages means that I am intimately familiar with the language acquisition process, and I love using that background to help others take their first steps with a foreign language. I firmly believe that learning another language should be fun and that it is one of the most rewarding journeys a person can take. When working with children, I like to use items that they already know and love to help them learn.

I am an experienced multi-subject teacher, who has had the great fortune to have been educated in several countries, and to teach in several countries. I received my education at Manhattan School of Music, Columbia University, the Universitaet Mozarteum, in Salzburg, Austria, University of Virginia, and Oxford. I have taught in the US, UK, Austria and Japan, and lived in all of those countries, plus Iceland, and for a shorter period in both France, and Turkey. My students have ranged in age from kindergarten, to adults, and have spoken many languages. I grew up trilingual, and added quite a few more languages along the way. I have the distinction of being one of the few non-native speakers of fluent Icelandic.I have a passion for learning. every situation is an opportunity to learn, and I enjoy encouraging others in their learning endeavors. In my spare time, I enjoy flying (piloting) aircraft, cooking, especially new ethnic recipes, collecting antiques, and new languages, and traveling to visit old friends, and new places.
