What is your zip code?

We've had the BEST experience with VT! Our tutor has helped my middle schoolers math grades come up from a D to an A for our 8th grader and from a D to a B for my 6th grader. I'm beyond pleased with how she connected with my boys.

Tutoring review by Kathleen in St. Charles, MO
The student and I went over declining nouns and what each case is used for in a sentence. With some practice, she seems more confident identifying cases. I am making her flashcards for her verb forms which she can use as a study aid.

Tutoring review by Rhodes in St. Charles, MO
We went over the student's first diagnostic test. She did not complete the Math practice test yet, so we will need to go over that next time, but we reviewed the other three sections. We discussed strategies for Reading, English, and Science and went over missed problems on the test. She is still not finishing reading with enough time left so we worked on understanding the questions and finding evidence in the passages quicker. After the test review, we covered more topics in math including simple algebra, factoring polynomials, functions, and more. We will meet again next weekend and by then she needs to have completed the math practice test and if possible another entire practice test.

With student A, we worked on her exam practice problems, reviewing strategies for reading word problems, solving pattern questions, and multiplication/division problems. We will finish the packet Thursday. Student B is doing benchmarks this week, so he did not have homework. I made a review sheet for him with geometry practice (polygons, angles, etc.) and some practice simplifying fractions.

Tutoring review by Daniel in St. Charles, MO
The student and I spent the first hour or so on physics. He has been struggling with some of the concepts that are related to angular momentum and torque. We cleared up most of his questions by going through a few problems in detail. We spent the latter part of the session going over some algebra.  He has been having some difficulty with the statistical terms and methodology that has been covered in class, but I think he will improve with some work and a bit of practice.
