Maggie recently received her PhD in English from Northern Illinois University where she taught composition and literature courses for the last ten years. Maggie loves guiding students through the writing process and believes that students work best when their curiosity is engaged. Identifying and utilizing students' strengths, Maggie finds, builds confidence, and clears a path toward deeper engagement with learning that lasts long after the tutoring session. Maggie also has a Master of Fine Arts in Theater and finds that her theater skills enhance her tutoring skills allowing her to connect to students' intellects through imagination. For example, Maggie often uses role-playing exercises to help students explore different perspectives in literature. She also incorporates collaborative storytelling and dramatic readings to make literature come alive for her students. Maggie prioritizes helping students find their own unique way of working, ensuring skills that stay with her students long after the school year ends. Beyond her passion for education, Maggie is an avid traveler who draws inspiration from her experiences across the United States and Europe. Some of her favorite places are Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Toledo, Spain and of course, London, England!
