Carol: Fairfield tutor
Certified Tutor
As a dedicated educator holding a Master's degree in Instruction and Curriculum Leadership from the University of Memphis, I have over 5 years of tutoring and classroom experience across a variety of subjects, including Algebra, English Grammar, and foreign languages like German, Japanese, and Latin. My teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of making learning enjoyable and relevant; I often use peer teaching and interactive strategies to engage students and connect lessons to their interests. For instance, I transform math concepts into games, helping students see the fun in problem-solving. My own experiences as a student have shaped my understanding of the challenges learners face, fueling my passion for tutoring. I strive to create a supportive environment where every student feels confident to explore new ideas. In addition to my teaching, I have a keen interest in science, particularly physics, and I continually seek innovative tools to enhance my tutoring methods.

Graduate Degree: University of Memphis - Master of Science, Curriculum and Instruction
I am an animal and plant lover. I currently have two dogs but have had cats, horses, chickens, bees, mice, rabbits, and a wide variety of plants from mint to chokecherry to spider plants and sage. I am fascinated by the universe and love Science, particularly Physics, which I consider to be a synonym for "Science", and Astronomy. I love to study world cultures, faiths, and languages. For 26 years, I lived among the Lakota on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. I have also traveled to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Japan. I play drums, piano, guitar, koto, and violin, and I love to crochet and do beadwork.
