Certified Tutor

As someone who has navigated the academic journey from community college to earning a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a concentration in Physiology and Neurobiology, I understand firsthand how impactful the right support can be. My passion for tutoring comes from the belief that students often struggle not due to lack of ability, but because of gaps in guidance, confidence, or learning strategies. Tutoring allows me to step into that gap with patience, empathy, and encouragement.
I've worked with students across a range of grade levels and learning backgrounds. Through the Maryland Mentor Corps at the University of Maryland, I spent a year tutoring second and fifth graders in Prince George's County, supporting them in math and reading as they caught up after the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic. This experience deepened my ability to adapt to each student's pace and learning style, particularly when working with students affected by systemic and external challenges.

I hold a B.S. in Biology from the University of Maryland and have completed extensive coursework in chemistry, physics, and mathematics as part of my path towards Medical School. Because of this foundation, I tutor Chemistry, Biology, and Elementary Math. Among these, I especially enjoy tutoring biology because it's the perfect blend of storytelling and science, helping students see the real-world implications of what they're learning despite the numerous seemingly invisible mechanisms and structures.

My tutoring style is collaborative and student-centered. I aim to create a comfortable space where students feel heard and empowered to ask questions. I use analogies, active recall, and guided problem-solving to reinforce concepts and help students build both skill and confidence. Whether a student needs help building foundational skills or tackling advanced material, I meet them where they are and help them move forward with clarity.

Outside of academics, I'm deeply interested in fitness, music, and videogames. I enjoy weightlifting, emulating classic video games and playing current ones such as Dark Souls, and listening to musical artists such as Dua Lipa and The Weeknd.
